Realistically, helmets are more to protect the wearer from fragmentation and falling/flying debris. This keeps them in the fight instead of knocked out with a concussion. The fact that some Kevlar helmets have stopped rifle rounds in the past is more due to numerous factors/luck. They are also a psychological effect for both the wearer and other people, whether the other people are civilians or opposing forces. It gives the wearer a sense of security and the opposing forces/Civilians can see that these are well equipped soldiers who are here for a reason....they mean business.

These tests preserve history for so many to experience. That's far more good than one helmet preserved in a cloistered collection. Don't let anyone make you feel guilty about that.

Actually no, that’s small pieces of iron oxidizing in the air and turning into rust and heat (which a small bit comes of as light) if you ever use an angle grinder it’ll be the same thing you see

I noticed 'Just don't tell mom I'm in Afghan' in there at 1:39. One of my favourite Russian songs. Really captures the emotion and reality as well as the scale of war. I'd recommend giving it a listen, as well as ones like 'Three Helicopters Over Mozdok' - there are various playlists on KZbin. This genre just really vividly captures the lifestyle of a soldier and their feelings, as well as also having a really catchy rhythm and feel to them - even I can sing them, and I don't speak Russian at all.

Great video about this kind of helmet, i always wanted to know if this helmet can stop a normal rifle ammo (7.62,5.56 or lighter) under 100 meters, but still a great helmet, it is a beast against pistol ammo.

So basically it does not only stops 9mm bullets, but also recochettes them so that it can potenitally kill the one who shot it. Double profit
