Good info, but I find it easier to use Photoshop's masking tools (pen, brush, color range...) on a layer mask. Plus, if you change your mind about what you want sharpened, you won't have to rerender the image.

When I try to open Topaz sharpen AI Lightroom makes a new copy but sharpen does not open. I can drag and drop in but If you know how to fix it please let me know. All other topaz products work just fine and sharpen is on the dropdown menu. Thanks for all your informative videos. You have a great style.

Another great video, thank you! Does anyone know how SharpenAI works when the mask option is not turned on? Does it automatically use masking in the background so that parts of the photo without detail, like the sky, get either less sharpening or no sharpening?

This might have been perfect for the 'Shake Reduction' under Sharpen in Photoshop. Unfortunately, all 3D features have been removed with PS v23.3

My old computer runs Sharpen AI pretty good until I try to use masking. It tries to re-render the image with every single move of the pointer so that the process moves at glacial speeds! The only way I can use it is to turn off Auto Update Preview. It a major pain!

Wonder why I have a tab at bottom that says “update preview”? So if I make a change I have to click it. Maybe cause using PC?

Auto-update is a settings option.

I tried Sharpen AI and it instantly ramped up CPU usage to 100% and shut down the PC, twice. Just creating the preview. I mean, I have frequently used Handbrake where it takes it to the ceiling on heat but doesn't shut down the PC. So it's a no-go for me. I'm experimenting with cloud machines- let their CPU take the punishment. The snag there is, so far, they don't seem to want to transfer files with any speed at all, and I have a fiber connection.

Wow, dude...it took over HALF this clip for you to get to what this segment is actually about? Not much point wading through the amount of ads on this clip to wait for 5 minutes to actually see how the masking function is accessed!
