Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs in the Workplace

Using Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs in the workplace makes for many reasons. It was developed by Abraham Maslow in the 1940s and 1950s that some workplaces now use explicitly to make decisions.
A pyramid diagram that showed the various needs that motivated humans. This video unpacks each level of Maslow's hierarchy of needs and explains how organizational leaders today apply this type of thinking to their workplaces.

The self-actualization part is maybe related to the Aristotle idea of cosmos and ethics, the idea that everyone should do what they meant to be doing, so the frog needs to do frog stuff, the wind needs to do windy stuff, and you need to do the stuff that you are meant to do.

Thank you for this great explanation . I have used this pyramid so many times but it has never I believed been more relevant than today with so many people on earth kept on the bottom level. So many homeless, working homeless, can't afford food, bills and the police force not seemingly to be able to stop lawlessness in as violence, theft, looting etc but can arrest a person for silent prayer. So may people not being able to meet their basic needs with absolutely no hope at all of nearing self actualisation. It's not much better in many work organisations where people seem to be deliberately " stunted" Could it be that Maslow's work has been now weaponised for malevolent reasons? I have never seen so much mental anguish all around me

I think that's fair. If the training is meant to build our confidence, then that makes sense depending upon the type of training. Often, since many types of training helps us maximize our potential, many researchers would locate that higher up.

These ideas are from the works of Sir John Woodroffe of the Tantras who was famous just a bit earlier, he just took the ideas of Sir John Woodroffe and interpreted from socio psychology perspective.

Interestingly, if we consider Harlow's monkeys, the need for food was overshadowed by social stability, i.e., the fake parent. Now, does this put a spanner in the works of Maslow, I don't think, but logically, doesn't it matter? I think in a time of stress, i.e., the poor monkeys, the need for food is removed, because of fight or flight, though, it's still an interesting observation. I've always asked myself this question but haven't had the luxury to look into it.
