I wish I lived in a single-family home with distant neighbors. If so, then I'd buy a grand piano like that Mason & Hamlin 7-foot grand. I live on the third-floor of 1970s wood-built condo and my piano is restricted to a Yamaha digital piano that I play/practice on while wearing piano-connected headphones.

There’s something special about the grandiose sound of the American pianos, especially Mason & Hamlin. I’d love to try one but they aren’t exactly common here in Europe…

Pre-Depression era Mason & Hamlin pianos are touted to be their golden era. How would you compare post depression, post WW2, the 1985-1995 and the post 1996 eras?-

There were certainly some great Mason & Hamlin pianos made decades ago. Naturally, the history each instrument, as well as the quality of the rebuilding, enters into the equation. In any piano manufacturer's history, there are periods where there are higher or lower percentages of great instruments. Ultimately, you must assess each individual piano for what it offers.
