I don't think there is a builder that would've built your house at this level of detail. Congratulations on your progress and quality of work.

There are a few out there, but very hard to find and even harder to afford 😅

Nice to see the bionic man helping get the job done. Technology improvements are amazing. This barrier is amazing.

I like doing siga on both sides of the garage keeps all of the garage smell out of the house. 😊

i definatley would have done a 2nd wall ahead of the vapour enclosure would have saved so much time and added to thermal breaks and effiency, nice for future.

There IS no builder you could trust with this level of detail.ive tried

For the main house: if you fur down the ceiling 1 1/2 inches and use any 4" round canless lights, you may have difficulty fitting the driver boxes into the ceiling through the holes. I found it took about 2" of clearance above the drywall to "turn the corner" with the driver through a 4" hole.

That's a good point and will definitely add to my notes for the future 😂

Building this tight is great! You may have already accounted for this, but it does create challenges. You’ll want to look into an HRV to bring fresh air inside while transferring as much of the energy and moisture you’ve controlled for. You need to get CO2 and VOCs out… it is actually insane how much they build up.
@MasonDixonAcresАй бұрын
Yep we have previous videos on our ERV install 💪🏼

After this is done, are you going to design and engineer energy efficient houses?

Are you going to do a blower door test?

Would the interior walls need a vapor barrier over the safe n sound? In particular the shower/bathroom?
@CMCraftsmanАй бұрын
When I did my house, after the drywall was finished and painted, I went around drilling my holes for my lights and I was so afraid there wouldn’t be a wire where I drilled and I’d have one of those “What did I do” moments but each time I finished drilling, my fear would be erased as my wires were all where they should have been.
@MasonDixonAcresАй бұрын
I feel you! The drywall screw trick took all that guessing away for me
@HopingforPowerАй бұрын
Why not do the blower test now? That way you can fill / fix any gaps that may be letting air out / in. Then you could do another one after the rest of the drywall is up.
@MasonDixonAcresАй бұрын
That was the original plan until we couldn’t get it done in time 😂

@@MasonDixonAcres Ahh that makes sense. Do you have a video explaining why you all decided to use rock wool insulation? I've been working out a plan to build our next house and I'm curious why you used rock wool instead of something like rigid foam or spray foam insulation?
@MasonDixonAcresАй бұрын
Not at this point but I talked about it a little at the beginning of the first Rockwool video and answered comments about it

Wouldnt staples on the siga reduce its vapor barrier effectiveness?
@MichaelOConnor-jb3lvАй бұрын
Nice build. Just trying to understand. If drywall is an air barrier, why not just air seal at the framing to Sheetrock intersections and painting the Sheetrock which acts as a vapor retarder
@jimr4566Ай бұрын
If you had brought the Siga in from the exterior Zip over the top plate you would have only had to do the ceilings, correct?
@MasonDixonAcresАй бұрын
Yep, except it would have still been sort of tough to detail that with our roof style
