I was totally unprepared for this. I hadn't finished all the loyalty missions yet and when this scene stared I suddenly got a very bad feeling, had to restart I cannot just ignore my crew while doing side missions. Bringing all the fighters into a shuttle is a bad idea anyway! That shuttle could have been taken away as well!

While I love this moment, I’ve always hated Shepard and the crew leaving the ship to go................somewhere? No explanation is given and is just random. Joker yelling “Where the hell were you?” Becomes ironic because Shepard doesn’t have an answer either.

This is the most contrived story moment in the entire game: The WHOLE team (11 altogether by that point in the story leave in a shuttle to an UNKNOWN mission- usually you can just take 2 squadmates along). The AI calls the guy with brittle bones who sits in the cockpit AT THE OTHER END of the ship to go to the server room, while Dr Chakwas is already stationed just behind the door. Then he has to crawl WITH HIS BRITTLE BONES through the ducts to the engineer room to unlock the drive core. While 2 minutes earlier there were at least 3 engineers stationed right next the core. Plus its funny that they took everyone, BUT the unarmed guy who can't run. It's also funny that this whole thing started because they installed an unknown IFF system into the drive core that comes from a highly advanced robotic god creature that comes from the “dark space“' and is known to control people by sheer proximity WITHOUT ANY precausion. BTW why not tell other people that you have found and are walking inside a dead reaper to get said IFF if that is the entire point of this franchise and why the PC has to work with this shady pro-human corporation instead of the Council. ME2 had no thought put into it at all. The acquisition of Bioware by EA began here and it can really be felt. It ended in the downfall of ME and Dragon Age and Bioware as a story-focused game developer... Such a shame.

@@jakelee7083 Yes a council of which one of three members is an Asari who can simply mindmeld with the human that survived Eden Prime to check wether a giant space ship and Saren attacked the outpost or not simply choses not to for fake drama - that's perfectly well written, I see no problem there XD. Additionally, there is the video footage which was transmitted to the Normandy of the attack showing the reaper. For some reason the council agrees to action against Saren and the existence of Reapers only AFTER we get additional "proof" via 3 other sources (one of which is a recording WITHOUT visuals- WHAT?). The first ME was already very contrived when it comes to certain story points, but the other two really jumped the shark. THE CITADEL (The seat of the council and the Center of the galaxy) was attacked by said Reaper at the end of the first game (which the council acknowledged at that point) and the second game is like "Eh, no! We just forget that for the sake of some contrived plot that leads nowhere." Even if Shepard enters a "dead" Reaper in the second game (there were people studying the corpse for several days at least as they built a Research Station inside) the whole story somehow doesn't acknowledge the fact that they have ADDITIONAL proof now for the Reapers to show the council. Bioware took the contrivances and contradictions for the sake of "cool moments" to a whole new level of stupidity in this franchise. Plus, Shepard could easily become a SPECTRE again during the course of the second game, so your point about Shepard having to work with Cerberus because council says "No Reapers! Shepard Bad!" is contradicted by the game itself XD

Council members are scared shitless, they are stupendously try everything to deny the fact that reapers may be imminent because think about it for a moment. There is a legion hiding in the close dark of the space just watching you coming to your end. One reaper can destroy hundreds of ships in less than an hour. I mean I ain't saying the writing was not going bad in me2 but I think we can justify the flaw a bit with the reapers

Makes you want to play a Mass Effect title where you just play as a squad of disposable soldiers huh. We only see the world from the eyes of some invincible god that is Sheperd with his god like combat abilities. This is easily my favourite mission as it shows just how deadly the enemy you regularly wipe the floor with are to more average soldiers.

This scene pisses me off. During the attack, EDI tells the cripple guy with no weapons or armor to walk to the exact opposite side of the ship dodging all these aliens. Instead, she could have possibly told somebody that works in the AI core to connect her to the mainframe. You know, somebody that is completely healthy to move 2 feet to his/her left and press a couple of buttons. Just saying.

I had a wicked dream about this sequence once. Just before the collector ship arrives, EDI sees a random shuttle approaching the Normandy’s docking port. Before she could get a read on who’s on board, the collectors arrive and her surveillance and other systems fail. As Joker is trying to get to the AI core, he’s suddenly stopped by a group of collectors, and just as he was about to get taken, A biotic pull killed the collectors In front of him. Behind them, Liara drops in, and greets Joker. Liara was in the mysterious shuttle that docked into the Normandy. After escaping the collectors, and Liara and Joker unshackle EDI, Liara explains why she was there. As good as it felt being the new Shadow Broker, it wasn’t worth leaving the Normandy crew, especially to fight the collectors. She decided to join the suicide mission at the last minute, leaving Feron to handle it until she gets back.

Despite the bad writing, sloppy animation, and "eh" gameplay...this part had me worried for joker. My stomach sunk in itself for the first time when playing a game. I had no idea if he would make it because of sheer coincidence it hasn't been spoiled. This was the best part of the game by far. But I have to mention what it's like after. There is absolutely no one but Joker and Shepard's team. (Also I know that its because of the limited writing but shepards team dont comment on it any more aside from the moment in the communication room. It really gives you the persepective on an npc like joker, you cant take down the enemy's the main character can bash down easily like a collector. You dont have armour or powerful guns. You're the pilot, you fly ships, if the crew wasnt there to be a distraction Joker would have also been taken and if he never gave EDI full ship control he would have to deal with collectors all over the Normady. The best part of the game lasts only a minute.

This 'Commander Shepard' must be comparable to Javik. Then again, in a few months, after the invasion, he will put himself into stasis, and we will win the war!"

You mean the Collectors? It's a battle theme based off of the main Collector themes from the various cutscenes in the game (many of these themes are showcased in the track "The Attack"). However, the battle theme itself doesn't get released in full on the soundtrack. The most recognizable portion of it does show up in the piece "The Normandy Attacked", but despite being one of the most frequently heard themes in the game, that's the only time it appears on any of the official soundtracks.

Well, they had to have a reason for why the Human squadmates are still with you. As for an in-universe reason, EDI had Black box Reaper viruses. They had no reason to believe that she couldn't be able to contain and purge a virus, not to mention they look like they're in Interstellar space. Given human colonies tend to be in a star System, they probably didn't think the Collectors would go out of their way to disable the Normandy.

This part is the saddest part in ME3... it seriously deserved a longer mourning period. I mean, I was so demoralized by this... I blamed Legion for it. Because this only happens after retrieving the IFF! I decided to restart from a previous save after four hours of work. Wish I had known about this earlier. As cool as Legion is, I'm only retrieving him after I finish all the minor assignments... Oops. Anyway, this part was so demoralizing... so so demoralizing.
