Technically, the Reapers were controlling him as a catalyst for things to come, so there wasn't really any other options left.

I remember when I first played through this part I actually wanted to save Saren. Learning he’s just being used as a puppet for the Reapers. It made me want to help him instead of killing him learning Saren was implanted. This game series saved my life from depression, my struggles in school, and the betrayal of people I thought friends. This game series made me feel entitled and empowered about my decisions.

same i felt bad for saren more than anything he was a slave to the reapers and was forced to betray the alliance and kill all of his friends all while he watched from inside himself helplessly

Mass Effect 2 helped me get rid of my gambling addiction. Still love these games. And if you have read the first Mass Effect book, you know that Saren is a complete dick 😅

At this point I’ve probably completed mass effect 1 almost 100 times and every time I see that it’s just as shocking for me as the very first time. I can’t even explain the emotional impact but just how the following four chords that call back to Saren’s theme added a dramatic gravitas. Personally it’s the most memorable moment from the franchise, followed by the end of the Citadel DLC when Farewell and Into the Inevitable plays over the Normandy.

I wish Saren would have returned in ME3 as Shepard's hallucination (with a hole in his head), who haunts Commander with futility of resistance against the Reapers, especially after Thessia.

Every other video game company: Have the player protagonist and arch-villain fight it out with the hero emerging victorious and saving the day. BioWare: Have the possibility for the player protagonist persuade the arch-villain to kill himself.

I wouldn't give him the satisfaction of not knowing that he was bested by a human even when he had more years of experience and Reaper tech' in him. He needed to know that he sucked as he died.

Finished it first going for the fight.. Imagine my shock and awe on the 2nd playthrough when this happened. Masterpiece of a game that I've replayed at least 8times. With the legendary edition coming to Gamepass I went "eh..here we go again!" 😂😂

Regretted not getting this ending, i was too immersed in the game since i was mowing down the enemy as fast as i can in Veteran while having mid af equipment and i wanted to rush through and disable the thingy majiggy Ended up fighting him for 20 minutes in the first battle And a damn 40 minutes in the last battle since i was a sentinel with a pistol V weapon that kept on overheating
