What if they had a previous DWI before they bought the car?? You see what I mean? If she knew he was going to do something like this then bought him the gun, yeah, obviously accountable. But otherwise, I really feel like we're always looking for other people to blame rather than holding the responsible party accountable. I hear what you're saying, and to a certain extent I agree, depending on their knowledge of events before hand. I just don't see what good comes of villainizing people who weren't part of the crime. The law is if you know a crime is a out to be committed but aren't part of the planning or carrying out of it, you aren't obligated to report it. There are certain exceptions, like if you're in a position required to take action, but otherwise you're not responsible for other people's actions. However, if you're encouraging it, planning it, or taking part in It, then it is on you. So this specific case falls somewhere in between those I'd say. But generally, I just think we need to stop the witch hunt for other people to blame. Just my opinion though

This guy had serious mental health issues that everyone, his mother, his friends and his teachers knew about. He was discharged from the army after admitting that he had thoughts of killing people. He'd been admitted to several behavioral health centers. His psychiatrist prescribed antidepressant and antipsychotic medication. His mother, who he lived with, admitted in court that she took him off the antipsychotic meds because "he seemed to be doing better." In November 2018 he got a job as a corrections officer at a local jaill but quit two months later on January 9, 2019. This is when his mother drove him to buy a gun. Two weeks later he walked into that bank and killed five women with that gun. I'd love to see a law that says it's a felony to help a person, who you KNOW has a serious mental illness/psychosis, buy a gun.

@@davidswanson5669 It happens, hallucinations can be auditory as well as visual, or even a sensation. People with schizophrenia or another disorder causing symptoms of psychosis can experience them. Not all do, but it is a real symptom that many do. There are also 'intrusive thoughts', which can be a feature in a range of mental illnesses. There can also be what are called "command hallucinations" where they think the voice is telling them to do something. I don't know whether thee guy in this case is genuinely mentally ill or just lying, they'd need to do much more extensive evaluations on him, but plenty of criminals will try to claim mental illness or blame it on a voice in their head, just because they've heard of it and hope to use it as an excuse, and statistically, people with real mental illness are much more likely to be the victims of violent crime than the perpetrators.

That being said, of course there are mental and physical standards that must be kept in order to remain in the military. I wonder if it's more often intrusive thoughts they mean than actual voice hallucinations. I have a feeling this dude had obsessive thoughts rather than actually hearing voices which is possible. He just doesn't come out as psychotic to me. More like highly anxious.
@benmcreynolds8581Ай бұрын
Your comment touches on something I've always been really curious about.. I really do think there are people out there that do not understand how to comprehend intrusive thoughts.. There are definitely people who hear things & deal with hallucinations but I feel like a vast majority of people don't grasp how to live with intrusive thoughts.. You said someone who is obsessive and over anxious and I can agree with that. It's like they guilt trip themselves about their intrusive thoughts. Like they shouldn't even have those inappropriate thoughts and maybe they let it eat at them like they are hiding this dark secret, hiding all this guilt like there's a monster inside of them.. idk I've just always been curious about this exact thing because we all have intrusive thoughts.. Even perfectly healthy and happy people get thoughts of "what if I just jump right now?" "What if I just swerved my car into something randomly as I drove by?" "What if?" I have wondered if certain people have made themselves crazy from guilt, stress and obsessive thoughts alone around these things even tho it's a natural occurrence everyone deals with?

Kristen was an excellent dispatcher. She was soft-spoken, compassionate, & not pushy. She shared her name, which is against safety protocols. Dispatchers are only supposed to give their badge numbers unless they feel that sharing their nsme won't expose them to danger. You dont want strangers coming after you. As a former dispatcher, I give her an A+. Her quick thinking & calm demeanor probably saved lives. After helpimg a caller whose father had a seizure, she thanked me & asked my name.
