This is heartbreaking. What this young man did was inexcusable, horrific, pathetic. He does seem to be on the tail end (or coming out of) meth phychosis…perhaps law enforcement would’ve gotten a better interview using a psychologist or psychiatrist. I agree with the author, it did seem like he was stuck understanding his role in what happened, why it happened, and finally, accepting it as the loss it is. I don’t think he was refusing to answer questions, but rather, he couldn’t. I hope everyone involved is getting the help they need. Prayers for the young lady’s family especially.
