Wow...I can't believe she received life in prison for that when I have seen ppl get r@ped and actually killed and not receive life!! It's only because he is a cop! If everyone was treated the same and got life for attempted murder, then maybe it would make ppl think before doing something so stupid! We need equal sentencing for ALL criminals! She didn't even have any prior violence!! I have seen several men almost kill their partners and they will serve only between 4-9 yrs! Some perps have like 3 priors...and they still won't get life, what's up with that!!! That's NOT right!!

People in the comments can tell how wrong the jury was but still nothing happened. The fact that there are other similar cases including when the women are pregnant and the punishment period is max 15 yrs says a lot about the justice system.

That’s bullshit that that judge thought what he thought. He never went through what she went through. So, he had no idea what he would have done in her position. Her stepdad was a piece of shit and her mother was complicit. She had a choice and chose to stay with an abusive, controlling degenerate. Ashley should have NEVER gotten the sentence she received. She was fed up with the abuse of herself and her little sisters. No one knows what they would have done. I applaud her for her actions, quite honestly.

Either she knows how to fake it, or she's accustomed to being gaslit. "Does that make sense?" The constant refrain is usually a sign of someone who has been taught to doubt themselves and seek approval. It doesn't excuse what she allowed to happen, but I wonder if her previous husband had browbeaten her. No way for me to know. Regardless, she had multiple chances to get away from him but she didn't because he solved her problem of not having to go find a job, which she didn't want to do. Her sentences shouldn't have been concurrent. Just ick.

Having watched so many of these videos, I’m realizing that traditional tv detectives are hacks. You can’t get suspects in an interrogation room and pester them. Because the truth is that they can shut these things down whenever they want to. It seems like a good detective figures out the vulnerabilities within your humanity. They figure out if they should send the female or male interviewer in there. Man, they might send in an older female detective who tells you that she has a son your age and if you lie to her one more time, she’s done with you. Whatever emotional manipulation you need to, they will exploit it.
