Katrina's mom on the jail house phone call was amazing. Called her daughter out, wasn't buying any of her shit, and told her all the facts. She gave no sympathy. That's how you do it. Edit: maybe I should clarify. When watching many of these true crime videos/documentaries/stories, you most often hear parents on phone calls coddling their children. I believe a parent can teach as many morals they can to their children, but once they're an adult, it's their own free will. I don't know enough about her mother raising her, but I wholeheartedly praise her response to her daughter in the phone call. I feel like some of you replying are just trying to be contrarian and trying to dig deeper when all I was remarking was her quick response in the phone call. It was honestly a nice surprise to hear someone not believing the lies for once. That's it. Have a great watch everyone

I thought it was one of the better jailhouse calls I’ve heard in a while. Her mom could’ve pacified her in effort to calm her daughter while she had her on the phone, (which is an innate part of being a mother). Instead, she gave her a real wake up call the only way she knew how, called her out for being with a lowlife and told her to cut ties! Basically explaining she is in an every man for themselves situation… that whatever this insanity was, she needed to disconnect from him and stop worrying about him. Of course, in the end, she was not innocent at all and risked her freedom by reaching out to him later & gets arrested for her part -which is good! Just sad. I’m glad she’s paying for her part in this disgusting crime. And sad for the mother that her daughter do to their actions, and the kids that lost their mother cause she was obsessed with a POS man. 🤦‍♀️

I watched the entire interrogation of the girlfriend, Katrina Layton, and that woman was seriously obsessed with poor Shannon. She kept telling the detective she “didn’t know much about Shannon” but everytime they asked Katrina something about her, Katrina would say.. “all I know is she dated Arturo for a few months” Then proceeds to list all her likes and dislikes, all her hobbies, her days and hours at work, how many phones she had, where she went to hang out with friends, all her family’s names, all Shannon’s exes names, what her favorite foods were and so on and so on. I’m serious. She knew a _disturbing_ amount about Shannon and I 100% believe Katrina participated in the murder as well as the cover up. If she didn’t, Shannon’s murder was the direct result of Katrina’s obsession and jealousy over Shannon. I recommend watching the interrogation to see what I mean, it’s crazy

The guy who agreed to hold onto the freezer likely helped Arturo get caught, and not just for the obvious reason that he discovered the body. Arturo was desperate in the days after the victim's disappearance. We know this from his friend's description of his behavior regarding the bonfire. We also know he was desperate from the fact that a guy working as a dishwasher is offering to pay $100 a week. He probably was planning on wrapping things up quickly. But after the $100/week offer, the guy said he'd take just a few bucks a month. This financial break might've prompted Arturo to relax a bit and take his foot off the gas. For four months, he left her in that freezer in someone else's home, padlocked but with a screwed-on hasp. He hadn't disposed of or destroyed key evidence, including the hammer, the bracelet, and the not-quite-clean-enough murder scene. He and his girlfriend didn't get their story straight. He put off taking care of this. If the guy had agreed to $100 a week, Arturo the dishwasher likely would have come back to retrieve the freezer and endgame this within a month. His friend's generosity really screwed him over. That's justice.

@@nightshadehelis9821 Like, how much money's worth of meat could that freezer even hold? He was four months into what was going to be $100 a week. By my math, that would have been around $1,700. At some point, you've got to be thinking, "There's no way this part-timer who is always asking for favors has more than two grand in meat in this freezer in our home." And even if he did, wouldn't he be coming back once in a while to pick up a roast and cook it? Although I guess meat has been appreciating in value lately, but not at this rate. Like dang.

Alturo was the type of guy that says thing like I'll give you 100 dollars a week and would never give anything but a song and a dance. Judging from the intro, I'm sure his friends knew that right away and it was not unusual for him. I think the wife's intuition kicked in and she said f-it I need to know why he put a lock on it while her husband was away.
@deucedeuce1572
@deucedeuce1572 7 ай бұрын
Four months though? That's just being lazy and irresponsible. Everyone knows that you never hold on to a dead body in a locked freezer at a friend's house for more than 3 months and 23 days. Joking aside, I do wonder if the wife was charged with breaking into his freezer. It was locked and it was a crime for her to break into it. He had permission for it to be there and it had a lock on it, so she can't say she just opened it. She literally had to get a screwdriver and take off the door to see what was inside, which is no different than breaking into another person's safe or locked tool box (or gun box/lock box, etc...).

No. Lawyering up is NEVER incriminating. Its my personal policy. Just like questioning people is their department policy. You better lawyer up wether you did or didn't do the crime to keep the detectives from overstepping their legal boundaries.

@@chrislancaster1982 Legally, it can't be looked at as incriminating or suspicious. It's a RIGHT!!! Guilty or innocent, only a fool would not have a lawyer present when answering questions... and in most cases, the person should remain silent, even if he/she is innocent. Truly innocent people end up in jail/prison all the time, because they talked to cops and the cops twisted their words and used them to make the person look guilty. I can't even count how many cases I've studied where innocent people got out of jail after years, because they were stupid and talked to cops... and then had to fight and fight and fight to finally prove their innocence. Although the presumption of innocence is a RIGHT, many cops/DA's, judges and juries assume guilt and sometimes it's impossible for innocent people to be able to prove their innocence. That's why the burden of proof is on the court and not the defendant. They have to prove guilt and not the suspect/defendant having to prove his innocence. It's just messed up that some people are too ignorant to understand the law and the Rights of suspects/defendants (like why they're so important and why they should never be violated).

I’ve seen too many instances of innocent people spending decades in jail to know that the cops don’t always get it right. I’d lawyer up instantly if I was falsely accused of a crime. People make false confessions, circumstantial evidence can be wrong, and a person can lose their lives over an overzealous cop trying to make a name for himself.
