Our 4900 just played with 9-18s. I loved plowing with it. My cousin bought it and uses it extensively for heavy tillage.

The cherry on the cake for me, I was born with red blood in my veins, 10 slipe plough takes some grunt to pull, this old Massey is doing her name proud, we never see ploughs like this in the UK, they are all reversable ploughs needing hydraulic lift arms to pull such big reversable tackle, in the UK we have the 26th as a holiday as well, if it falls on a weekend, we get an extra day in the following week if this makes sense? This is the best by far video on youtube this holiday, thank you oh so much.

Massey built good 4wds. Good basic hard workers.

Massey 4wds were well built. It is too bad they were discontinued in 2001 with the AGCO STAR

Nice vid Jason. That tractor has quite a roar to it. Impressed how well the plow goes thru the corn stalks. The stalks didn't look like the combine even had a stalk stomper.
@piperdoug4283 жыл бұрын
Great vid, always think corn plows nicer if they've bush hogged the stalks first (bit more moisture help too) but seems his No.1 trip is a bit worn and gives out too quick.

Nice machine , will be worth a proper buffing many production hours left on it. Tractors with large engines and transmissions have a long lifespan.In South Africa i witnessed JD 8400,s which has done 23000 engine hours as well as Steiger 9370,s with 19000 engine hours at full tillage loads with no major engine ,transmission or final drive repairs needed .Just need proper maintenance.

I am always amazed at the colour and texture of the soil in your vids, it’s not like that here.🇦🇺👍

Very orange nearly red in Australia isn't it?
@stevenstart87283 жыл бұрын
Glen Koopman we do have some black ground but mostly red in the eastern states. Lots of sand also. Very little of Australian soils have been influenced by glaciers. Most of our soils would blow away or wash away if we used tillage like you guys do. No till and full stubble retention has transformed Australian grain production.🇦🇺👍

That ole girl can pull ,that's a big load in that heavy soil.I wonder if a modern fwa tractor of the same hp could do as well ?
@piperdoug4283 жыл бұрын
easily, the newer 320hp tractors torque number are way higher plus they come with bigger boost, but in my opinion have no where the style of these old beasts.

Hi Jason having watched a few ploughing videos from the states I noticed that you never seem to run a bie when you start ploughing just wondering if that's common practice over there

Fun seeing this tractor again. Was wondering about the McConnell connection, watching your video from last December provided a great answer! Raised another question, is the current Challenger articulated 4wd related to the McConnell & older Masseys?
@Zero01k3 жыл бұрын
No, the Challenger articulated tractor has nothing in common with the old 4000 series Masseys. The old 4000 series frame ended with the Agcostar.
