The problem with single aisle long haul is that if you need to get up and stretch and move about the cabin, it's nigh unto impossible in a single aisle bird. With twin aisles, you can spend a few minutes walking and improving your circulation which is critical on a long-haul flight. When you spend too long cramped into an airline seat it can lead to serious health issues for some people. Being able to get up and move is non-negotiable.

8 hour on a single aisle is not a huge issue. US transcon lasts 6+ hours on narrowbodies... If they do the cabin layout right, with some mid-cabin lav and standing space, it shouldn't be too big of an issue. I fly 13-14 hrs flights almost weekly, so these transatlantic flights are short in comparison.

Finally! Someone who actually understands. People are so quick set aside narrowbody long-hauls, simply because it’s “small” and fail to understand that it all comes down to the airline and how they choose to set up their seating configuration. I’ve flown wide and narrowbdies and being 6”4, I prefer the A321NEO (depends on which airline). I’ve flown both Aer Lingus and Jetblue across the Atlantic and prefer their A321NEOs (especially jetblue with and their above average legroom) over standard widebodies ANY day. Honestly, really comes down to the airline and the cabin layout.
@Thesmellofrain-h6o8 күн бұрын
@ There isn’t much to get. Wide bodied aircraft are more spacious. Regardless of how much real estate a person is allotted. I’m not opposed to it, just not my cup of tea. Having flown both narrow and wide bodied aircraft across the Atlantic (I) prefer a wide body. Example: many wide bodied planes contain a wellness area to stretch &/or move about. If not, there is simply more room to stretch one’s legs, breathe.

The single aisle range of the A321XLR is impressive but still lags behind the single aisle champion the VC10 or the slightly less far traveling but way more build Douglas DC8-62/63. While the XLR is a great airplane, I can’t imagine spending eight hours on a narrow body. What will happen to all the wide bodies ordered across the world if this is the perfect (up to eight hours) plane? Yes, this will free up the larger airplanes, but does this mean the end of wide body service across the Atlantic & to other destinations within the planes range? Change (to XLR) is inevitable. I’ll still give the XLR a try, it might be the only option…

I’m a flyer that’s clostrophobic and need a window seat. Airlines say it’s about a 50/50 split with us needing window or isle 🤷♂️. ABs window seats are less comfortable. They curve in at lower level.
@rtbrtb_dutchy41837 күн бұрын
@@stevesmoneypit6137guess what, in a narrow body, 1/3 of the seats are window seats. And 1/3 are isle seats. Now go ahead and calculate how that is on a wide body.
@rtbrtb_dutchy41837 күн бұрын
First of all, it takes much less time to board and deplane. Why do you think that narrow bodies can turn around in 30 min and a wide body takes 90 min? Also, so far, most longhaul narrow body flights have much more comfortable seats. In a wide body, airlines shrink the seats to add an extra row even. They can’t do that in a narrow body, so you have better seats.
@stevesmoneypit61377 күн бұрын
@ I know! But I only take window and I don’t get up during flights not even 16 hour. Wide bodies make you feel not so cramped. Visually. Over the 5 million miles I’ve flown have had 2 flights hit clear air pockets. Everyone not belted in hit ceiling. I’m lucky to be near Chicago so if I’m on a 737 max time anywhere is 4 hours.
