Yes 20 years ago I loved the perfect cars and the good paint jobs. Now I just like seeing them running, junky or whatever. I use to not get the whole original and "patina" or whatever but the older I get the more I like the stuff in running original condition. I guess it's as I get older and realize how much those cars and the stuff costs to do that, and that those guys worry if a bird poops on it, if it's wet outside, raining dusty a rock bounces off it as he is running down the highway. I don't mind a backyard 20ft paintjob either thank it looks fine and protects the vehicle and gives it a decent look.

I did exactly the same thing, but without the tent. My Mini was Almond Green with an Old English White roof, 1275A+ Metro engine, Cooper disks, Cooper perforated wheels, later genuine Minilites, negative camber and lowered all round with the obligatory RC40 exhaust.

@@jameseastwood4984 I had a similar set up engine wise with a 1275 engine and a set of Cooper S reverse rims until I could afford minilites .I can remember the first MOT , after the rebuild, and the reaction I got. I was sitting outside the MOT centre with the engine running and got the signal to drive in . The guy that was doing the test laughed and said this thing isn't standard and I can smell the fresh respray .He told me that he'd done the exact same thing in 1971, I nervously waited outside wondering if It would pass. After what felt like an eternity he drove it back round to me and said you'll be going home now to fit your spotlights. Looks Good.. you’re better off using a 1.3 or 1.4 for clear. In cold weather you wanna heat the clear. Boil a bunch of water then pour it in a bucket. Then set your cans of clear and hardener in there Let ‘em warm up Dutch oven style. (You can set them in front of a heater also). When the components are nice and warm, mix and spray. Trust me. Way less likely to run and it’ll lay down smooth. Set your gun about 29 psi at the cap. Material about 2 1/2 -3 turns out from fully closed and keep the wet spot movin’

I saw a really interesting video on clear coat runs a while back. The fella was trying out a technique he’d been told about by an old hand in the profession early on in his career and remembered it when a new guy at the spray shop was working at got runs in the top coat. He used filler to cover the area and then knocked back the whole area with various grits until he’d taken off all the filler and clear coat and as they’re both on top of the good paint it saved the day with the minimal amount of work. Lad is the GunMan on here if anyone wants to check it out ❤
