As a person who loves both sports i don't think that's true. Cricket has different format because the old format of cricket was not catchy for the new generations so they had to evolve from First class cricket to ODI and again from ODI to T20 but i still think ODI is better format for cricket. Football don't have many formats because it's perfect. Not literally perfect but what i mean to say is it is successfully able to attract new viewers.
