This is a great idea! Stacking skulls like vanilla might not have the same effect as the stacked bone/skull walls irl, but having an alcove in the wall and using armor stands to get them a little closer together could be a good balance of just enough to get the idea across without an insane amount of work filling a whole hallway.

Idea for the Black Market: Multiple entrances to the same market, but linked by Redstone so only the most recently used entrance allows access. Entering from any point is always allowed, but you can only exit back out the same direction.
@simonfellows2565
@simonfellows2565 Жыл бұрын
Adding to this idea, you could use water elevators from level 3 to level 2 so that you have two black markets that connect, but you only get access to the better bit when you reach level 3 and you can easily get up to level 2 as a perk, but you can’t get back down the same way.

I would use boats just for crossing the lake, have a dispenser for distribution and a collection of boats off of a cactus or other system or just give instructions to put boat back, which activates a piston to get you up the side of the bank. I agree though, may not be worth it. Just let them swim. Meaning underwater breathing respiration or aqua affinity are actually useful perks later in the game

Regarding the areas with the gray palette - I actually really like it! I don’t think every area has to have a full color palette, it’s nice to have some barren looking areas. One thing I do think would look cool if it fits - add water sources above it for the drip effect and some shallow pools (like waterlogged stairs/slabs). That would look super cave like and add to the vibes I think!

And he can add some very subtle bits of color like mossy cobble, mossy stone bricks, and gray glazed terracotta with a randomized rotation pallet. But i definitely think "plain grey cave" is perfectly reasonable as a pallet for many caves, especially if he's trying to make a section that's easy to get lost in. (I just hope little nods to decked out 1 return, mainly that iconic iron trap door bridge over lava)

I think for the most part he wants to keep the Hermits outside of the "interior" sections of the game so they can get the full experience on the first couple of play throughs. Personally I'd buy Decked Out 2 as a stand alone game, just based on how Decked Out 1 was, and this is literally 5x the amazingness on just floor space alone! Caves in Pennsylvania have a lot of tans, oranges and some reds because of iron deposits, and those colors run down the walls in streaks. You could add those colors if you're looking for more variety. Also, a lot of them are filled with water and the walls are really damp because of the high aquifers and amount of rain we get. The lake looks phenomenal! My jaw dropped. I looks so much better than vanilla and I love the way the more lit areas make the water look different, breaking up the flatness of it. If you ever find out how to make a vertical surface look wet, that would also be impressive. All in all, super excited for all your ideas!

Also you can maybe use calcite to add a little contrast without coloring too much. hi Tango, you should be careful with the jump boost skips, I noticed a few ways to simply parkour over them using the surrounding terrain. Also a suggestion for the spider area: You could make some silk pods or silk covered areas using blocks like diorite, wool, and quartz pillars. Might be worth experimenting with some different white colored blocks, mushroom stems and bone blocks might add some really nice (and spooky) warmth, and glass panes could make it look somewhat fuzzy. You could also use glass panes to create some large spider silk strings that go from the floor to the walls/ceiling, which might add some really good spectacle. In any case I really think some more prominent clusters of white will make the area look more cohesive, so I hope you like my suggestions As for the lake, you could add some parts in the ceiling where you have water particles dripping down just by putting some water on top of it. It’d really strengthen the whole water theme of the area and add some life to it as well. I imagine it would kinda look like the City of Tears from Hollow Knight, which also has a really ambient feel

Tango, perhaps you could add a few enviromental upgrades along with skill upgrades that players can get. Perhaps if player is able to assemble the [END] set, then the bridge in that central room will have a shulker that pops out and helps them get up. Or the maybe the [RAID] set would increase the evokers that spawn but open some shortcuts that would make the run more challenging and shorter. That way the players could feel the dungeon evolving alongside them as they slowly get more powerful.

Yes! The Empires crossover was great but I was definitely missing what's next for Decked Out and the Perimeter the whole time. The bamboo farm and super smelter for fWhip were immensely helpful for my own world, though. I even adapted/updated your Season 5 pumpkin and melon farm to your sugar cane farm build pattern as well. Observers were a bit tricky to squeeze in a 3-tall space but got enough coverage to make it work.

I think a really cool addition to really any of the dungeon levels is a spot with a large ravine or water body, and by using flying machines tucked in the roof, have a bridge lower done from the ceiling, and maybe have an enemy riding it as it comes down

adding some moving stuff to the caverns would be cool i think, like spores from spore blossoms, smoke from campfires, maybe hide a few lava/water sources in the ceiling of the caves to make a little dripping effect, maybe add some kelp around the pillars in the lake to give it some animation and hide the drowned! for the cave, minecarts are not an option since ravagers would get stuck in them, but adding a few rails or pillars or soul landerns to show that there were people there would be cool! also to the caves themselves you can add dead coral fans here and there, they're gray but add soms detail and variation! also you can poke some 1x1 holes in the walls (where it is possible) that the player can't get to, and they're just little tunnels that go into the darkness as if giant worms or something live in the walls. also i wanted to ask, how are you going to make sure the spiders don't follow the player all the way out of the spider den and into the next level? or stay sitting somewhere in the middle of the lake for the next players?

I think it would be cool to add some spore blossoms to add more to the atmosphere. If the color of the blossom doesn't work, you can always strategically hide it so that the spore effect still occurs. It would really help the mushroom area, which is greatly lit up, have a bit more atmosphere

One addition you could do in the caverns is a dark cave. It is entirely dark, with just a tiny bit of lighting in the form of lichen. The floor is bottom slabs, so mobs don't spawn. However, the wall has lots of skeletons in chambers, and just like the soul fire system in Decked Out 1, the block in front could drop down for a random assortment of skeletons every time. The floor could have soul sand with carpets on top(although whether you still get slowed on carpet is a concern), and cobwebs could be scattered sparsely to slow you down. It is risky, but a super effective shortcut. This chamber will also be extra monitored with skulk sensors, so running through only results in more trouble. That way, if you plan on making a regen card for the deck, a player could use it to take the shortcut, and another card, maybe "Safe zone" could make it so that some traps like these skeleton ones scattered across the dungeon would be deactivated. This card will be rare. Only one tier of this card. Also, an artefact location through this room.

That's a good idea, with this, depending on the reward, maybe it would be worth for a player to retrieve a boat that another player left before, so if you die leaving it behind, it would be interesting for you to play again immediately in order to not leave a bonus to someone else.

Even if there weren't a way to get out, I feel like learning the dungeon is part of the game. Etho dominated the original Decked Out because most people just hopped in, followed their compass, grabbed their artifact and left. Etho always explored, tried to find secrets, figured out which rooms connected to each other and the layout of the dungeon, and if he got to his artifact early he would still stick around and explore until the clank got too high. It would (should) only take you once getting stuck in that trap to know for all of your other runs that you should only go in there if you have jump boost.

@@liamengram6326 Even so, softlocks aren't good game design. Learning the dungeon is part of the game, but unfun and poorly designed parts of the dungeon shouldn't be. Now, I dont think that's a softlock, I'm fairly sure it's only 1 block on one side, but if it was, you can't just forgive bad design with an excuse like this. Even a player like etho could fall in there and be stuck until a ravager or evoker comes along to put him out of his misery, and that should never be a mechanic in any game trying to be fun and at least somewhat fair

The first hat with reindeer horns is the best. Floor 2 looks amazing In the dead ends you can maybe add some murals in the walls or something cuz the passages are completely gray but adding colors in the tunnels will break the vibe, so adding something in the dead ends would be a good idea. You can try to decorate the tunnels with different ores, maybe even blocks of raw ores. The lake loos nice as it is , and with a big boat it will give you a focal point to look at . Adding boats will be a vibe but ALOT of maintanence work for you.
