Cynthia from Brenham Tx here. I am blessed to have a cleaning person come every two weeks to help out ( we are in our late 70’s) In between times my husband and I share the chores & cooking. He’s very good about helping around the house and he LOVES to run errands! My mother-in-law passed on many years ago. She was the greatest-so loving & kind and she NEVER criticized me not even once. We both had very similar ideas about cleaning, cooking, and child rearing. My husband inherited many of his wonderful qualities from her. RIP Dorothy Miller❤️

She sounds a lovely lady. A blessing to you and your family. Does your cleaner do the same jobs each fortnight?

Yes. Every 2 weeks she: thoroughly cleans both bathrooms; dusts and vacuums all rooms; damp mops all rooms; cleans stove top, kitchen sink, microwave; outside of fridge; kitchen countertops; sweeps front porch; cleans front glass storm door; empties all wastebaskets. Quarterly she cleans ceiling fans & vacuums lvgrm upholstery. I pay her extra to wash windows (inside & out)

Texas is 2.8 times the size of the UK with a large variety of terrain (forests, high deserts, mountains, beach, hill country and lots of large flat miles and miles crisscrossed by very long highways). We have seasons depending upon where you are in Texas, but they aren’t typical - tornado, wildflower, hotter than heck, hurricane, usually lovely weather for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, and small spurts of winter in January and February that only last a few days unless you’re in the panhandle. Blessings from a still very hot Texas but at least we’re past the triple digit days now!

When it comes to whether or not to keep your daughter’s school books, in my experience with my 3 children, it’s not worth keeping anything from Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9) & only worth keeping books from Key Stage 4 when she’s doing her GCSE years. All my kids used their exercise books from Year 10 & 11 as revision material, but not from years before that. I did keep some from Yr 9 but that was only because at my kids’ school they picked their GCSE options at the end of Year 8 & sat a couple of exams at the end of Year 10, but we only kept the Yr9 books that were for the exams. When your daughter goes into her GCSE years, her school should tell you what revision guides to buy & for what exam boards in particular. Different schools use different exam boards. You’ll be able to go to somewhere like WHSmiths & get her work books & revision guides that will cover everything she’ll need to know, plus there’s a lot of free revision material online. Plus she won’t be doing all the subjects that she is now, she’ll drop some & possibly gain some new ones when she picks her GCSE options. If she’s not referring back to any of her books from the previous years, it means she doesn’t actually need them & will not gain anything new from them. Personally, I kept text books & revision guides on hand, but I got rid of exercise books. The only exception would be an English book with an amazing story they’d written or something for example. Hope this helps x

Have a look around for a new table, ours has a large leaf that folds in the middle of the table, it's a bit like a tranformer. It seats 6 when the table is normal size lift the middle out and you can easily seat 10-12 people. It's solid oak and bought it locally to where I live.

I've looked in lots of places... It took me about two years to find a sofa....I started looking but they were the wrong colour or size or the chairs weren't very nice etc etc. may start looking again. Guess ours is 6 people opening up to 8

When you are picking up toys in the lounge, your daughter is on the couch and the TV is on. Just curious why she's not cleaning up the toys. When you were working in the dining room I noticed that you set notebooks and such flat in the basket. If you stand them up on their ends/bottom, you won't have to take everything out to find what you need. You definitely have given your daughter and continue to give her a secure attachment! The way that people parent definitely has changed over the years, especially as new research has came out. I agree, hoping you have a sale in a week or two, early October.

@@brookhowell8841 hi Brook mainly because I'm recording so she's out of the camera! Secondly because she's having a break in front of the TV after working for so long. Good point about the books 📚 I was trying to keep the basket flat so I don't see it all when I walk in 🫣🤣 How are the 🐐🐐🐐🐐 babies

You speak so much sense Emma ie the bins and having to remind, may as well put them out ☺️,when you put your clothes over the radiators, have they been dried and you are just airing them? Wondering otherwise if they are wet ,why you dont cause damp and condensation 😖have you thought of using the drying facilities in the local laundrette? Washing for family and bedding ,total nightmare here in UK with our weather! lizzie🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Yes it does cause condensation but because I heat and ventilate we don't have an issue 👍🏻👍🏻 I might use my dryer (washer drier) and see what it's like.....3 hours drying= not quite dry!!

Instead of doing a sale with your daughter can you just give her some money? I once paid my son when he was younger, 4 or 5 years old maybe, $2 for a pile of clutter. He was thrilled and so was I. Another thought is to maybe set your donations out in front of your house with a sign that says FREE. Then it’s not a burden on the thrift stores and you don’t have to take it anywhere. You could advertise it on marketplace and I’m sure you would enjoy watching how quickly it gets picked up. We used to live on a busy street and it worked great for us. People are struggling so it might be a blessing to others.
