I am running 7 off a 20Amp PWM motor controller, at 13.8V with about 50% duty cycle. They are warm, not hot. Working well. I had the power supply already so only in it for the cost of the panels and the rig to hold it which I made from PVC conduit and fittings.

i have been using 3 of these lights in my living room hooked up to a battery pack from my solar panels they are very bright and have been burning without any heat sinks on them for over 3 years now lighting my living room every night with not one pixel out yet. i used 4 in a home made grow using 12v 5amp power to each and they worked great, actually worked better than a mars hydro 1000, better spectrum for flowering in the 3500 range. I would even dangle on on the sides for side lighting hanging from the wire it was attached to. cant let the lights touch the walls they will overheat and blow. they are a cheap solution to a home made grow light that will work as good if not better than the expensive ones because its the right spectrum for flowering. they do get hot enough that you will pull your hand away because it burns if you touch the back. but it has not affected their operation for the past 3 years now. I have been testing them to see how many years they will light for and we are over 3 now almost 4 years..

I see a Migro 100 in the aquarium. is it slightly under water? I have a 7 foot long 200 gallon. Today i almost ordered 2x migro 200 for a total of 4 lights. my only issue is the red side of the spectrum seems slightly lacking and the greens are wasting a ton of energy, but i guess the ppfd of the units really make up for the spectrum issues.

Hi, this giant leds are powerful I tested under water to about 125W OK. But you can easy go to 100W with air heatsink & fan for massive light. voltage needs to go around 14-14,6V around 7A but keep current limited and good air circulation. For long use go to 70-80W power.

Why do I hear that some folks are running driverless cobs? If I was off grid in a dc system, no a.c. or inverter could I figure a way to start some seedlings in the house before spring to get a jump on planting? In the off grid community everyone wants this but no one offers it and the smarter of us who solve the problem don't seem to be bothered to share the solution..

@@MIGROLIGHT I second this request! Would love to see how these driverless COBs perform in terms of PPFD per watt, particularly the 20W white version which I suspect is more efficient than the 50W (they both seem to have the same number of diodes with the 20W being driven at a lower current which would make it more efficient). The "full spectrum" version I suspect is pretty bad, though it would still be interesting to see the real world data. Love your vids by the way, keep up the good work!

Wouldn't doubt it... Quite a few of their older lights were quite a bit less efficient than a traditional single ended hps light. Granted that's only one aspect of a light, and not their stated goal as far as I know, but yes I believe it. Haven't looked up efficiency on their latest lights, but I would guess they're still "middle pack".

Shane you know how they say Hps should be 12-24 inch away from canopy, some led's 36 inch away and Cmh around 20 inch's, how close to the canopy could I get these if i wanted to do a vertically stacked grow? Like a 1 sq metre grow with another 1 sq meter grow stacked on top of it (doubling floor space). Led's seem like the way to go for heat in this setup, but I only have 2.2 metre in height, so its the is the light to canopy distance that is the problem (taking up precious height space that i don't want to give up). A bunch of these would give me a meter sq of coverage (I would cool them) BUT how close can I get them to the canopy and still get top notch 'Indoor Tomatoes'? Also would the penetration to the lower 'Tomato Bud's' be Ok? Lets say in 12 inch's of foliage from top of canopy to where it was 'lolly-popped'? #420 #Top Cola's #SOG/SCROG :)
@MIGROLIGHT
@MIGROLIGHT 6 жыл бұрын
I'd go for HLG QUANTUM boards and run them at low current. You can run them 15cm above the canopy with very little heat. They are much more efficient than the eBay ones and good value too.

They are great for growing, i grow in a 3x3 with 6 of these, 3 on a 1m heatsink x2. Wired them in series with a 36v power supply on each heatsink.
