Opening electrical appliances gives me a sense of relaxation and I really like opening all kinds of screws and disconnecting wires and removing electronic components.

What a mixture of stuff to strip, made super interesting by all the copper. I’m with you on the subject of waste, which is why I alway dismantle everything, for scrap and any usable bits and pieces. My family refer to my workshop as Grandads Hardware. They recon that if grandad throws it out, then it is really buggered.regards Ken from Australia.

Man so many of us scrappers don't realize just how much more could be realized if we just spend a little extra time on certain things.So many of us get excited over the tin shred weight and forget about the non-ferrous materials that can be had..Great video FS👍 Happy Holiday

Respectfully as a professional dewalt user, if you want one that doesn't shut off, then don't get one with a selectable torque setting. They shut off because the circuit doesn't allow it to over amp. It's not even about protecting the motor. It's also about protecting you from a battery exploding in your face from circuit overamping. Get one that is all or bust or get a stronger one. They make like 12 different sizes of them.. The reason dewalt makes that one is for the people who strip shit instead of feathering on things that an impact shouldn't be used. Don't blame the tools if you don't know their intended purpose in a situation where it's being used how it's not intended. I like scrapping videos but just pointing out, it's not always the tool's fault. Another thing is you have to factor in why companies have those measures in place any way. People sue companies for things blowing up when not used properly and the courts side with customer in many cases so companies have to protect themselves as well. Feel free to blame stupid people for warning labels and safety designed into things. Remember Bleach bottles still say "DO NOT DRINK".
@ProjectShopFl3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info. Can I ask what you do or what a professional dewalt user is? Just never heard that term. All my cordless tools are dewalt, I like them just not the shutting off so soon part.

I know you can't hang on to everything and most of this stuff you would have a hard time trying to resell equipment but dang! I am a generator technician. I work for a large Cat dealer now but used to work for a large Kohler generator dealer. That big Thompson ATS costs around $8-10K. I have replaced 1200amp generator output breakers that were $12k new. The bad part is scrap value for most stuff is pennies on the dollar!
@ProjectShopFl3 жыл бұрын
I've tried for years to sell this stuff, I don't like scrapping out good working equipment but I don't have the space to store it. It is sad because like you said scrap value is pennies on the dollar. I am working on getting a proper space where I can hold things and start a eBay or online store. Thanks for watching.

"Yeah, I'm going to save all that hardware" 10-5 gallon buckets later... A coworker was given a whole air compressor that he didn't process, I snagged the breaker. He got $3-400, I got $1600. I sell what I can then process everything I scrap. Oh, and as an electrician, you get way more torque with a flathead as opposed to phillips on wire lugs.

Anytime I’m tearing stuff apart all the hardware goes in a $5 magnetic tray from Walmart so I can sort through it. It sticks to pretty much anything we scrap so it’s always right there. Might help some. Damn good score

Hello brother, don't worry, my name is Hamid and I am Iranian. I like your work very much and I have a small shop and my job is typing and duplicating, but I open electrical devices such as transformers, armatures and wires and remove the copper and aluminum inside and sell them, can you give me Can you help me with what tools I should prepare for this to help me make things easier?
@ProjectShopFl Жыл бұрын
The tools you are gonna need is gonna depend on what you are taking apart. Also there is more than one way to do a space job so it kind of comes down to your preference. I would search for videos on the specific things you are taking apart, watch a few different channels and see what they are using. Good luck
@eldiablo80193 жыл бұрын
Seems like you should be able to sell some of that stuff for more than it's scrap value. I would try to contact some local electrical contractors, and see if you could E-mail them pictures of stuff. Stuff like that full spool of wire, that 3 phase disconnect, and those new lights, even at 50% off new, should be worth a lot more than scrap value. Tell them they need to pick the stuff up. Less work, more money. 😁
@ProjectShopFl3 жыл бұрын
I've tried in the past but a lot of electrical gear is job specific and hard to resell. If I had the space to hold it I could start an online store ( I had one before) but even with brand new stuff in the box I had things sitting taking up space for over a year. I probably need to put more energy in to this. I'm looking for someone that can help me sell this stuff.
@eldiablo80193 жыл бұрын
@@ProjectShopFl I understand what your saying about some of that switch gear being hard to sell. Another Idea might be to talk to some electrical supply companies. They might be interested in stuff like that big new disconnect. I don't know prices on stuff like that new, but I imagine it's A LOT. I looked up the price for 500 ft. of #12 stranded, and found it for $109 a spool. Any elec. contractor that does commercial work will use loads of that if it's black, red, blue, or brown, orange, yellow, green. Best of luck, Happy New Year.
