Great footage! I've been sharing these with my dad who's an ex-chief in New York. The scale of this one reminds me of the fire at the old American Brakeshoe facility in Mahwah, New Jersey.

On these types of fires about the only things you can do is protect the exposures (the surrounding buildings) from catching fire and surround and drown!! They have to watch out for electrical wires when using aerial apparatus and need to find out if any hazardous materials are involved in the fire as well or in exposures! It looks like they did a good job setting up portable tanks for water supply. Also sounds like they did job of setting up command. I was a Volunteer Firefighter for Sandt's Eddy/Lower Mount Bethel Township from December 1987 to November 1997. It looks like they will have to do a a better job doing a job routing the tankers/pumpers for the water shuttle operation. It is best to NOT have them coming head on at each other IF possible. If possible you have them go out one direction and come in another. For example clockwise or counterclockwise. Also try to limit traffic on the roads near the scene as much as possible to make it easier for apparatus to stage, and for the water shuttle apparatus to travel to and from the fill site and the scene/dump site. When I took incident command class we were taught the incident commander should delegate someone to control on each side of the building on incidents such as this. Also, delegate someone to have control of the roof area (in this incident the roof was deemed unsafe as it was starting to collapse so was not needed), water supply, communications (copy down what is said and/or to make the radio calls), traffic control, PIO - Public Information Officer (to talk to the media), etc. From what was in the video the incident commander did a good job. Could he have done better? Yes. After ever incident it is beneficial to go over what happened and to critique how everything went, what you did good, what you could have done better, etc. Learn from it! Videos like this HELP!! Keep up the great work i hope you share these with the Fire departments involved!

Should resource water to prevent extension to other buildings, and not waste resources on fully involved building 🤔
