The Android Security Bulletin only covers a small subset of high profile vulnerabilities. There are backports available to vendors, since they don't port to new stable monthly and quarterly releases which contain important patches that aren't listed/required by the ASB. Many vulnerabilities outlined in the Pixel Bulletins also apply to a lot of other devices despite the name. Pixels are the only Android phones that port to new monthly and quarterly releases of the Android Open Source Project in addition to yearly releases. They don't use the backports only like all other vendors. Google and users need to pressure other vendor's to do better.

In your practice, have you come across Blackview Hero 10? That's a folding phone that reails for around $400 and seems to have all the T-Mobile LTE bands. The chip is a bit tired (Helio G99, which means no 5G or 4K)but seems interesting for the price 🙂

@@TechOdyssey I encountered the G99 when I purchased the Infinix Note 12 Pro (4G). The chip seemed snappy enough despite its limitations. Would be interesting to see if it can drive a dual screen 🙂

I think the new updates have done damaged on the phone. The phone is freezing. Mostly it's happening on WhatsApp and on display. Even if you touch anywhere, nothing it's moving so I think this is the update it's causing this problem.

I don't know if it's a software bug or not but sometimes my screen just acts weird, the sensitivity of my screen gets worse. It always happens while charging. At first I thought it was the adaptor, screen guard issue but it's not. I read a few reddit article and many of them are facing the same weird screen sensitivity issue.

How could you call it a Google flagship phone when its usb C fails to support video output to HDMI? I mean, even my old Galaxy Note 4 is ahead of my Pixel 8 in this respect. I really hope Google realizes what a pain in neck this is and does something about it.

You can sideload the OTA package for the AP1A.240505.005 release and device firmware from the Google developers page. Choose the correct one for your carrier.

Informative video as always my friend. Keeping the community more updated than Google themselves. I think I'm done with Google and the pixel lineup tbh. I think my next device will be a Samsung, more powerful, more quickly updated, more features and customizable. Google just continually drops the ball or ends service for their products. I genuinely don't believe they will support their devices for the number of years they've stated. I think at some point the pixel device will end up on the same heap as countless other Google adventures, music, G+, daydream, vr, game pass, etc etc etc. But you my guy, keep up the good work 🙌🫡

Pixel devices will likely not end up on the Google graveyard. Discontinuing them would majorly disrupt development of the Android Open Source Project. For all Nexus and Pixel devices released by Google, they have supported them for the full support guarantee with full support for montlhy/quarterly/yearly releases of AOSP. Samsung says they will support the S24 for 7 years, but historically they have downgraded the update cadence to quarterly or even biyearly updates. They don't even port to monthly and quarterly AOSP releases, and they miss out on a lot of recommended patches and improvements not required by the Android Security Bulletin. Pixels also have full support for alternative operating systems that won't void the warranty or cripple a lot of the hardware, which makes them extremely customizable to a potential degree even higher than Samsung phones.

Samsung doesn't port their phones to Quarterly and Monthly releases of the Android Open Source Project. They only stay on baseline yearly releases. You only get security bulletin backports to baseline Android 14 and other patches at Samsung's discretion. No new features.

@@seanburns1972 New AOSP releases includes many recommended patches that aren't required by the standard Android Security Bulletin or to declare a new security patch level. While high profile vulernabilities are backported, some aren't. Additionally many important security and privacy issues are classified as moderate and do not get backported to baseline releases. The bulletins only highlight a small subset of vulnerabilties.

Im on Google Pixel 6 and have NEVER had any issues with it. I love it to death. But....... but but..... Im getting the new Sony Xperia 1 VI monday..... yes Im a Google fanboy, but also a Sony Aplha camera fanboy. So I HAVE TO try Sonys new Phone

Mine arrived here in the UK yesterday. I am loving it thus far as I too am an Alpha fan (currently A6700 with 3 Sony lenses). You will love the telephoto macro mode and the sound is incredible! The extra reach with the now 7.1x optical zoom is nice. The screen - yes it is a noticeable hit with the resolution but then the smoothness with the LTPO and the brightness increase is also very noticeable. I can't speak for the battery life with a full charge having it only for one day, but it came out of the box at 1pm yesterday at 81%, has not been charged yet, and is at 59% today at 12pm, having been set-up and a good 2 hours with the camera and KZbin, music, Android Auto this morning. SOT is currently 4h3m - so yeah, high hopes for the battery. Oh, it works perfectly with the Pixel Watch 2 as well. It cost £1150 through O2 (UK carrier) with the XM5 headset chucked in too which is a fantastic deal
