MASSIVE Hornets Nest Inside Trunk! | Pandora's Box Full of Hornets| Wasp Nest Removals

Hornet King

Күн бұрын

In this video I remove an ENORMOUS Hornets' nest that was built inside a trunk on a front porch! The hornets were vacuumed out, and the nest was fed to my CHICKENS!
Species: European Hornets, Vespa crabro. Colony size of 800! Nest height 3.5 feet, 16 inches wide! Vespa crabro (aka European Hornet). "Hornets" (Vespa) are a type of "wasp" (Vespinae). European Hornets are the only established hornet species in the States. There are some controversial arguments that Vespa mandarinia (Asian Giant Hornets) are established in the States; which they are not. A couple colonies removed from a isolated area in the entire country does not constitute as "Established". European Hornets are STILL the only Hornet species in the States.

You may find this interesting: There was a house on our block that had a car in the backyard. The guy who lived there was an amature mechanic. One day, my dad and I were walking our dogs when we see an exterminator van in his driveway, and him standing on his porch. My dad asked him what was going on, and he told us that the car he was working on became a "big ass hornet nest". A few days later, we were walking our dogs when we saw the car was gone. The guy asked us if we wanted to see some pictures that the exterminator took of the nest. Big ass hornet nest didn't even begin to describe what was in that car. The entire dashboard, steering wheel and foot wells were nothing but one big nest. When my dad asked why he hadn't seen them before, he said with a shrug that he never saw the interior, he was concentrating on the engine. It wasn't until he got stung several times that he called the exterminator. That exterminator probably got some duplicates to show customers how good he was.

These European hornets ain't nothing compared to the HUGE Giant Asian Hornets, that are just being discovered near the Canadian border that my state of Washington shares...the queens are up to 2 inches long!...and their stings are very painful...so far, the authorities have destroyed four nests in the last six months or so...but it is questionable as to these foreign invaders can be stopped before spreading down into the western states. In Asia, dozens of unfortunate people die from being stung by these monsters every year. the hornets specialize in raiding Honeybee nests, killing the bees, and feeding their bodies to their larvae!
@SnugglesPlays
@SnugglesPlays 3 жыл бұрын
@@curbozerboomer1773 And an interesting fact about Japanese Giant Hornets is that their massive size is also their weakness when it comes to Japanese honey bees. Japanese honey bees know that Giant hornets cannot cope with temperatures over a certain level (I forget now what that specific level is), and so when a foraging scout discovers a Japanese honey bee hive, the bees wait until the scout enters the hive and then they all suddenly descend on to the scout, completely covering it in a massive "bee ball". The temp inside the bee ball, from all the writhing, buzzing bodies of the bees, increases to above the level that the Giant hornet can cope with, and so the hornet scout is killed, thereby preventing it from releasing pheremones to alert the rest of the colony to come and attack the hive. The Japanese honey bees can tolerate a temp only 1 or 2 degrees higher than the hornet can, which is why they are able to do this and survive. European honey bees have not learnt this method, and so are powerless against Giant hornets, which leads to entire hives being slaughtered by an army of only 30 Giant hornets. Fascinating stuff!

You'll appreciate this one: I was going to check out this 68 Firebird. Engine and trans was shot but the body was in great shape, but it was in the middle of a field. But, I drive out to see it and the main and it was exactly as the guy described. Then I made the mistake of crawling underneath to check the frame. Just then I felt the whole car start to vibrate and a massive buzzing sound. I look up and realize my face is about 5 inches from a HUGE paper wasp nest. I jump out and just start running and apparently it was something out of a cartoon because as i was running away from the car, this cloud of wasps was chasing me

One thing I've learned from watching these videos is how effective a vacuum cleaner is in dealing with insects. I had a cucumber beetle infestation and used a shop vac to suck them up. Just like hornets, when they fly when the vacuum hose comes near down they do. I typically get southern yellow jackets all over my purple hull peas in the fall in Texas. I'm going to try the vacuum on them. I don't think I'll take on any Yellow jacket nest though even if I had a bee suit. I figure in the huge numbers they have s few would find a way in. Love watching these videos.

These hornets are huge! You were smart not to open the cabinet right away. They had literally built a high rise skyscraper. Why do some of them, left on the hive, beat their wings so fast? Personal air conditioning?

first scout the enemy -> invade -> pacify -> victory -> bring home the spoils of war -> hornet king -> chicken feeder.. LOL. what an entertainning video to watch.. the best moment out of it is the battle and how big is the nest.. then finish it with watching bunch of cute chicken eating.. keep doing the video.. everytime you open a nest its like opening a new present..

when i see the front porch with all the wasps flying about. i think of the tennis racket fly zappers and how fun, slightly nasty if would be to just turn it on and lazily swipe back and forth. i remember a few years ago on my moms farm. we had an infestation of hornets in a old 50gal wine barrel we had. i took care of it at night with a combo of fire and poison spray. took me 4 nights to get them all. i remember i set a flashlight up the first night, and when i first went at them they swarmed the flashlight. i was so glad that i had set it up and was not holding the flashlight. love your videos. cute animals.

I am curious how much you charge for a removal. Is it a flat rate? Does it depend on the size of the nest or the type of species? Does how far you have to travel come into account?

The wire for my earphones brushed my arm and I instinctively squeaked and flicked my arm outwards as if it was something crawling on my arm. Which meant that I yanked my earphones from my ears and the phone port while simultaneously throwing my phone across the room. Only for me to register a few seconds later it was just the wire. These videos are fascinating but make me so paranoid lmao...
