It's ironic this video is on German yellow jackets. Just last week we had yellow jackets in the office, and I was able to identify them for the groundskeeper thanks to watching your videos. Thanks again for being as educational as you are entertaining.

Another great video, as usual. I just recently found a nest under one of the steps for the stairs leading from the rear deck of my house. Had noticed one or two buzzing me when I would go to the shop out back, but really thought nothing of it. And then I started noticing three, four, maybe five or six at a time. I thought "Ok, HAS to be a nest nearby". Checked under the deck, around the deck, around the house foundation... nothing. Was standing in the shop entrance door and just happened to look at the deck stairs...WHOAH...there it was, right under one of the steps. Luckily had not gotten TOO big, so I was able to take care of it myself. I hate to think what might have happened if I hadn't used those stairs for another two or three weeks! Again, thanks for the great video.

I remember many years ago before the Internet doing my work experience on a very old (819 years) English estate. I shadowed one of the resident game keepers who introduced me to the biggest hornet nest I've ever seen far beyond any I've seen on these channels. It was in the roof of a 160 year old barn and it spanned the entire length and breadth of the building. Think 5 modern day tractors side by side for scale. Every year like clockwork you could stand on a certain hill and watch the swarm which just looked like a giant black cloud coming across the open countryside, where they would nest in the barn from spring to autumn. The keeper had lived there for 30 something years and said they were there when he moved in and returned year after year. Fascinating to watch on my lunch break from a distance. Probably still there to this day because no one dared to mess with it given it's size and it seemed a shame to destroy something that took so long to build.
