Wasn't able to realize just how big that mesquite log was until you stood next to it. Wow! Straps always got to break toward the end of the job doesn't it?! Great find . . . excited for you! 👍🏻- Samuel

Thank you Nelson for being a friend, we appreciate your kind words. Mesquite is known for being a very hard wood and is still being used to build fencing and corrals in Mexico and some parts of the U.S. But it is also know for really making fine furniture like chairs, dinning tables Etc. It has a beautiful wood grain and patterns. It makes for great charcoal wood for BBQing and cooking where fire wood is still being used.

Wow, Louie, we are very humbled and we were both just smiling that you would mention us on your channel. Those Stihl chainsaws are one of the best! It’s so cool because the things you do there are the things we do over here! Thank you so much, and have a wonderful weekend, you and your family!

Stihl are the best! Hopefully it lasts for you! Unfortunately the farm version of any saw brand, aren't the best, but some people have good luck with them. Nice tree, should mill nicely 👍😁

Good morning Louie. That is a pretty good sized tree. We had a massive white oak go down in a windstorm. I counted the froth rings and that tree would have been a sapling even before the civil war. Such a shame to lose such a beautiful tree. Especially one that had Stood there for generations What will you make out of that?
@southtexashay777 Жыл бұрын
We will let it sit for about two years to dry out some. Cut into 2-2.5 inch slabs and make tables ETC. Yes this tree was a solid old mesquite, down here people chop them up for BBQ wood. We will make somthing that will have a story and people will have for generations. My mother turned 93 yesturday and were all got together at her home. She had a cutting board on here kitchen table made of white oak. I made that cutting board when I was in Cub scout 54 years back. It's here daily cutting board and has some wear and tear on it. I told my brothers and sister I had made it and my mother remembered. My mother was part of the club helpers at the time!!!
