Educated people voted for an illiterate and gave him the highest post in this country,epxecting that he will do wonders for the country.If that was the case education wouldn't be required at all. There have been many less educated/uneducated people in history who have done wonders for the world and have even been successful entrepreneurs,but remember they all did so in their personal capacity,bearing the risk themselves. A very good point. But the thing is, we are swung over by charisma and speeches than actual qualifications or work. Highly educated and highly skilled people like Dr. Shashi Tharoor (PhD in international relations) and Dr. Manmohan Singh (DPhil in Oxford University in economics) do exist, but they don't have the ability to pull crowds or stoke passions or speechify for crowds in rallies, especially in regions without much literacy or ability to analyze. Thus, we have the charismatic leaders stoke passions and win elections, even though their speeches may be hollow in some cases. People are attracted by emotion, not hard facts.

Don't lose hope, correcting the unemployability is also one of the key factor, youth lack what companies needs, even if they are educated (having degrees), this can be corrected by identifying the shortfalls, the skill set is a different thing, it is an add on to employability, but first, a bachelor has to be employable by being of a value, which can make a huge number of youngster employable, then comes to education, many examples are there a PhD holder is applying for a peon Job why? Case 1, maybe not from a celebrated university, Case 2 Right kind of Job is not there, Both can be corrected by Making More & More Educational Institutions, which would provide quality education, that is the key, & which will produce quality educators, etc & can give employment also, next as you said, skill development, & I have an idea that the companies shall give the job to an unskilled bachelor, with relatively low salary & wage, & can make him skilled by their own set of respective needs & suitable courses, then after completion, it can make them as a fixed-term regular employee, so by this youth doesn't have to take any loan as such, Next thing would be talent & entrepreneurship, which an individual have to find it in himself, & can make it his/her profession, for this we have to accept that no work is small in society, & this is high time for it, for example, I know a person, who earn around 50K plus per month by his talent of drawing, he is a tatoo artist! & he pursued his passion as a profession! Just a logical opinion: In the age of automation,how good can population do if it is already a burden on resources. China,japan,US etc can produce more goods using machines with less cost and time , 20years back would have been different but still all is not lost. India can have very big service sector but we can't just place everyone in I.T and call centres but can tremendously do manufacturing and build infrastructure in this century.
