Proof we are all different. I eat around 1600 a day. I’ve never had any symptoms on MJ, never felt sick. It didn’t start working for me until I reached 7.5. I have a reasonable size lunch and a big dinner every day and the weight is coming off nicely. I don’t have much left to lose and I’m still losing around 2lb a week which I’m happy with. I’m now training myself in preparation for coming off MJ. A lot of people have regained weight after stopping MJ. They claim hunger came back with a vengeance. I plan to reduce my dose all the way back to 2.5 before stopping completely. Well done on your loss!

You are so right, we are all different and as long as people find their way, they will lose. So glad your preparing as I think it is so important to sort your mind set out, well done hun, 2lb a week is a fab loss, did you have much to lose? xx

@ Thank you. I had 6 stone to lose. 🙈 I have 18lb left to go. I had a radical hysterectomy and prior to that was taking medication that contributed to my weight gain. After the hysterectomy, nothing I did seemed to work, I even tried 5 day water fasts. I’ve been on MJ 6 months but as I said, didn’t have any success until I reached 7.5. ❤️

@@JackiesJourneyWithLove Just to add, I think what helped me most is not weighing myself often. For me, the scale was always the kiss of death that would have me chopping and changing plans. I now weigh once a month-ish or every few weeks and so far, the scale has always moved in the right direction. Right now, I’m averaging about 2lbs a week. It’s amazing how time flies when we aren’t chained to the scale. MJ has really helped me sort things out psychologically. x

Fabulous vlog!!! You are absolutely right, you need to be on 6 to 8 hundred calories a day to get that amount of weight off so quickly and mounjaro is the best thing I have ever tried and I’ve tried everything. It’s a miracle. Thank you ❤

I do think it depends on the person and their bodies, health etc but to me, it makes sense and it works FOR ME. I never really had many calories before but obviously I needed less and all good stuff but that might not suit everyone. If my body tells me different or my energy, I will change it up but at the moment, I feel great! best ive felt in years.Hows your journey gone Debs xx

YAY 🙌 Well done you. Glad to see another UK vlogger like me. I think we are similar age and journey. I was very interested to hear you saying you are only eating 800 calories a day. Since I have started I have been posting I’m am struggling to get over 1000 calories a day based on lots of people saying don’t eat less that 1200 calories so it was a change to hear you say 800 is sufficient. I’m going to think about this as I’ve lost 19lbs in 7 weeks so less than you. I know we shouldn’t compare journeys but of course we do!!! Really pleased you are doing so well and seem so energetic ❤

Thank you Ginger, Mounjofam! lol Yes do not compare, but I also know how difficult it is too, how many times I have been to weigh in at S/World and glared at that person who always loses! lol Listen to your body and talk to your doc, your medical centre will have a Dietician on board you can be referred to and that is who I am under so If she says its safe, thats good enough for me but please dont do something because I do, this is just me sharing my journey. Keep me updated hun and any wobbles, get on social media for support, they are great when you need it, sending love x

Jackie, this is great. Husband has Parkinson’s and have read there is a potential in using this for the condition as it reduces inflammation which is a hallmark of the disease. He also has to put in layman’s terms a deposit of fat in the canal of his spine called Epidural Lipomatosis (a rare condition) they say and have suggested he lose weight to see if that disperses it. All very well to suggest these things. He is so depressed, can’t walk hardly because the condition with the spine as the deposit pushes on the sciatic nerve. Asked our GP on 15 November 2024 if Monjaro would help and she said now you have to be referred to a weight clinic (in our area at St George’s hospital) and there is a a 3 year waiting list. You can’t win. Looks like we will purchase privately. Keep up the good work. I think this drug should be on people’s Christmas present lists.

So sorry to hear about your troubles Annie. Sending you and your husband some healing energy. Yes, NHS will not prescribe untill you have gone through the dietician, tried a gym membership and maybe 3 months on S/W. Kind of makes sense for most but when there is a health issue, that makes no sense! He obviously needs it sorting now, PUSH IT. Ask for a second opinion, I would. Privately isnt great but get a code so you can get a discount on the first month then spread the code around your friends, family etc, everyone who uses it gets same discount on their first month and you will get £40 credit on your next jab. I work in a large office space and now everyones noticing my weight loss, they want my code lol, helps as its not cheap but might be a good way to get your husband on a better well being path he needs. Sending lots of love Annie to youboth xx

On the point of it being available from your doctor in the uk. They dont want to prescribe it. Im type 2 diabetic, was given metformin which i couldnt tolerate. Started Mounjaro privately, got me Hba1c into pre-diabetic. Reduced blood pressure, eased arthritis etc. Had an appointment at doctors, asked if he would prescribe it because it was working great for me and my health. He said they wont because its an amber drug! They were happy to offer me another diabetic drug that causes UTIs. It doesnt make any sense 😕 its as though they dont want us to get healthy. Yet the government are happy to use it on the obese to get them back to work.

I know your frustration Claire, I did the same. Only certain medical practices in the UK will prescribe. My doc was very honest and told me it was about the money as it is very much available so just depends on how generous your surgery is! Post code lottery I guess. I know , pissed me off too, whether it will be put in place for the unemployed, who knows. But do you know what Clair, we can do this anyway. Stay focused, you got this and well done for changing your health! massively proud of you. Sending love xx

800 calories isn't sustainable though. So once you are off the medication how will you sustaine 800 calories a day? You will end up with metabolic damage.

Years ago Sally, I had to have an op, and I was put on a diet by the hospital that was only 600 calories. I lost so I could have the op. It was done through our NHS and I am now on this diet with guidance from my NHS dietician. It is a means to an end only, not permanent and as long as you get all the vitamins, nutrients and minerals your body needs to function, we don't need another 600 calories of junk so many are making the decision to go low calorie or the RIGHT STUFF to drop the weight. I do believe my dietician knows her job and I trust her, besides, I am listening to my own body and I haven't felt this energetic in years so something is working. Before, on my 1200 calories, I felt like crap, no sleep, always tired and fat. If an NHS dietician tells me its safe, thats enough for me, it is also about reeducating yourself isn't it, this is working for me Sally, and I am just sharing my journey, but i appreciate you caring. xx

@JackiesJourneyWithLove yes I understand your point. I just think that there so many different views on this subject. I follow many on monjouro most eat over 1600 calories and have fantastic losses. I'm considering it myself and thinking what's best to do calorie wise. I understand everyone is different but all I hear is about sustainability after wards and once you eat more calories the weight will do back on? It's so confusing as so many conflicting stories. If it's working for you then it's all that matters. There was no hate in my comment was just curious x

I learned on an American woman who’s on KZbin has been on this drug (which by the way I’m starting this Wednesday 20th) for long time. She is now starting to wean herself off it by instead of every injecting every 7 days she started by doing it every 8 days then 9 days she took it slow I think she did it in two month changes but I think she’s now on 10 days in between and I should imagine she will finally get to 14 days in between. She’s doing this because as the drug leaves your body it stops covering the food chatter so if you have trained your mind to think like your still on the drug it’s easier to stop or slow down the weight gain. A lot of people don’t think of the end I know I don’t want to be on this long term so once 🤞🏻I reach my target this is what I will do IF I last on it😂

Tomorrows your big day Julie, how you feeling about it? I move my injection about to suit but I am still on 2.5 at week 8 so happy with that. I really do think we have to keep in mind life without Mounjaro because we put ourselves through so much on this journey, it is so easy to slip right back into our old ways and you cant let that happen. So good to hear your already thinking of that long goal and the end, tells me you have already manifested your dream weight! xxx

My first time seeing your channel. I have T2D so asked doctor for it. To get insurance to pay here in US for Mounjaro must have diabetes. My diet is Keto. This week I asked the question whether anyone had used exogenous ketones to help with ketosis and fasting. You wouldn't believe the number of people who said all you need is the drug. Don't use unproven methods. 😮 I responded that fasting is a proven method to help with fat loss. What about Yoshinori Ohsumi who won the Nobel prize in 2016 for medicine in his discovery of autophagy? You are correct. People cannot abide or leave those who don't have a herd instinct to follow along. Good job on weight loss. I have just entered 10th week and lost 23#. I eat pretty low calorie and almost zero carb. Want to add in exogenous ketones to extend fast to 24 hours a day and OMAD. We only have a shortish window where the drugs kill the hunger and adding in fasting and ketones to extend that fasting will allow for greater weight loss. I am about 37# from perfect weight. I lost a great deal of weight when I was on Ozempic for T2D and only gained 20# of it back when there was a shortage in 2023, so had about 60# to lose when I started Mounjaro. I know so much more now about what metabolic illness does now and how to combat it.
@JackiesJourneyWithLove
@JackiesJourneyWithLove Ай бұрын
I cannot tell you how many people have told me in the past that fasting wasn't good for me! I did it several times to regulate my Glucose levels and it works, it rebalances your body's chemicals where needed, you only have to do some research to see. Massive well done on your loss! My too, I have a weird reaction to carbs, again the sugars effect me badly. I totally agree, this is a 'window' of opportunity and if we don't make the most of it, safely, we are wasting our money. I know how this is probably going to stop me from going to an early grave so I am stupid not to take advantage of it. Our Metobolic illnesses add to our stress and that is the killer. Keep going, your doing great, sending much love xx

I, like you, thought it was merely a case of eat much less & healthier, take Mounjaro and job done. I now realise, it's far more complex than that. I'm 8 weeks into Mounjaro and having lost 10lbs in the first month, I've plateaued for the last 3 weeks. Still on 1500 calories max, often much less, but the weight has not only stopped dropping, but often fluctuates up/down 1/2lbs. Those shouting at you for promoting eating 600-800 calories a day are sadly right. Turns out, we all have a basal metabolic rate... the absolute minimum we should eat given our sex, age, height & fat. Then, there's TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) which is how much you burn given your daily life. If you eat fewer calories than your BMR, your body will quickly enter starvation mode and store fat reserves, believing it's getting no more. The result, you'll lose water weight and some fat... but, like me, you'll hit a frustrating wall. Plus, the majority of your weight loss is muscle mass, not fat... but when the focus is on losses, people ignore that and pretend it's actual loss. It's akin to losing a limb & turning a blind eye because your weight is decreasing. Instead, you're supposed to eat *just* above your BMR and always less than your TDEE. That way, your body continues to burn reserves at a consistent rate. If you increase your exercise levels such that your calorie burn takes you below your BMR, eat something. It's counter-intuitive, but it works. I understand this now because having hit the seemingly impassable wall, I looked into it properly. Now, I'm eating more and losing more. To say Mounjaro just makes you full is inaccurate, or at least only partially accurate. It acts as an appetite inhibiter, true... but it also increases your metabolic rate and slows digestion. By eating FAR less than you should (below BMR), you're working against Mounjaro because as it tries to increase your metabolism, you're strangling it of the resources to do so. Your body isn't daft... if there's nothing to digest, it won't demand/promote digestion... of either food or stored energy, no matter how many drugs you give it. The result... excess stomach acid and therefore, acid reflux. If you want to lose weight consistently, google 1) BMR calculator, fill it out and make a note of it 2) TDEE calculator, fill it out and make note of that too Congrats on your weight loss, but be careful you're not destroying muscle mass. If/when you hit the wall, you'll see what I mean. Good luck.

Thank you Paul for your comment. To some extend, I agree however, I am also aware of what 'empty and bad' calories I ate before Mounjaro and I too also did my research. My 'health' calories are now more than before Mounjaro. Makes sense to me this is why I became Obese. So I have now educated myself and this awareness means I will loss, hopefully every week by putting what I need into my body and nothing else. My energy levels are higher than they have been in years. We have all overeaten if we are on Mounjaro and now I see why I struggled so much. Each person has their own issues, health, emotional, physical and metabolic rate. When we have our Collestral checked, we also have a 'recommended' number. I know, from experience, and speaking with medical doctors that these numbers are not set in stone nor are they relatable in the same way for everyone. I eat 6 or 7 times a day. small and often, and this works for me. If my energy was out or my health was started to deteriate, I would change things. I am also under the doctor and often have bloods. Mounjaro is not a permanent fixture and shouldn't be. This is a means to an end for me and a temporary window to lose the weight and reeducate myself on what my body needs. I listen. Everyone is on a different journey and everyone will have different things that work for them, none are unsafe. As long as I listen to my doctors advise. Noone claims a golden rule this is just my journey. I hope yours is a success too and again thank you for sharing your thoughts. Sending love. x

At one point you complain about people calling you fat. Then you call unemployed lazy. The hypocrisy. FWIW I think public health should cover these drugs for all overweight people. And maybe that's where it'll wind up. I'm in Australia so have a similar system of health care. Less fat people will result in lower public health costs.
