@@Cadets1986Perhaps you eat food that rise your blood sugar? I am quite sensitive myself to that, but if I stay away from sugar (given) and also eat no fast carbs, I actually have the same size I used to, still slim, but yes, a bit more around the belly, but I have accepted that, it's not that much or an issue for me. As soon as I eat pasta or even normal potatoes, processed food, beer and white bread, the fat around belly will accumulate. I eat only one roll of sourdough bread with cheese in the morning, the rest of the day, greens, protein from meat or fish (loads of salmon), seafood, lentils and so on. Once a week sweet potato. It works, but you got to stick to it. Also, if it doesn't work, check your thyroid blood work.🌸

Hello Clarice, I'm so sorry to hear about the many challenges that you have had to endure, that sounds really really tough! And I am sincerely sorry if my message is unwelcome but when I read your comment I felt I had to leave a note. I went through menopause when I was 40 and very isolated with no medical care so at that stage I did a lot of research. Amongst the things I came across was the concept of 'the HRT window' or estrogen window. You may want to look it up. I think the advice is that HRT is beneficial if taken in peri or within 10 years of going through menopause, but that the benefits may not be great and there are some risks if it's been more than ten years since menopause. Please feel free to ignore my comment if it isn't welcome, but just in case you have not been made aware of the reduced benefit and increased risks, I felt I had to say it. Menopause Taylor's video's here on youtube were one of my resources. I only just found Dr Haver's videos today. I wish you a happy and healthy life 💖

You can temporarily change the playback speed to 0.75 (more or less) to slow down her normal speech speed for just that viewing of the video (commercials will stay normal speed). The speed setting will default to normal speed (1x) for your next video, so you are only changing playback speed temporarily. I hope this helps!

I now realize in 2005 @ 55, when I had unexplained, fast onset, end-life anxiety & depression, I was right to ask my (female) D.O. primary care physician if it could be due to perimenopause. She said no, I was too young since I was still menstruating, and I was started on Lexapro immediately with weekly psycho therapy for 3 years and annual psychiatrist checks for 7 years. Weaned off on my own during COVID due to near-aversion sexual response around my husband who I love dearly and who is extremely patient and kind. Messaging is so confusing these days, especially for young people. “Embrace your curves” has come to mean, it’s ok to be obese. They put HUGE morbidly obese woman on the covers of magazines and say “This is Beauty”. When celebrities lose weight, they are criticized for “selling out”. It’s ok to not be ok with being too heavy and seeking out info like this to help get back into balance and reduce the unhelpful fat. Tough love and facts are more helpful then “Your obesity is beautiful! Don’t change a thing!” talk. Telling people to “embrace their curves” has become as unhelpful as telling menopausal women “it’s just part of getting older. There’s nothing you can do”. There’s no upside to being fat when you are young. None. You CAN be truthful with someone without shattering their soul. THEY ALREADY KNOW ANYWAY. Validate their truth, not their denial. There’s no upside to gaining weight due to menopause. This “embrace your curves” phrase had good intentions 20 years ago but now, it sends the wrong message. How bout, “Love your body into better health” I almost feel rage when I say I’m trying to figure out how to lose weight and some well meaning man says, “No, I like a woman with curves”. WE, as women, need to stop conflating Curves with Fat. If we are taught that “Curves/Fat are wonderful” why would we be interested in being less curvy? We really need to be crystal clear on what we say and “Embrace your curves” has become convoluted.

@@tashad2201 I've had positive results with it. I don't do hours of HIIT training, however. I have found a groove that works for me. I work out intensely for 15 to 30 minutes and I'm done. Besides, I hate working out and I would just rather get it over with. I recently started on progesterone HRT and have noticed a significant difference in my ability to shed fat and I sleep better. So glad I found you! I went through menopause early, age 38, as did most women in my father's family. I stayed slender and athletic for many years, but mobility was affected when arthritis, scoliosis and osteoporosis took over, and I put on belly fat. Refused Premarin for ethical reasons, and it was the only game in town in those days. I'm 74 now with a host of ailments that can be linked to the menopausal condition. Will see an endocrinologist next month to see if the new body-identical estrogen might benefit me, even at this age. I have a calculated life expectancy of 100+, so have a great desire to feel good again in the many years ahead of me. The information you provide makes a huge difference in my new quest. BTW ... I make my own Greek yogurt -- no sugar, of course, but I do add homemade vanilla to sweeten the flavor. Who doesn't like vanilla?

I think its best not to spend time worrying on what might be. Yes keep brain and body active and eat well, etc. the elderly who have dementia often aren’t aware they have it and they can often still be happy in their reality . Many elderly ladies for instance will just want a baby they are given a doll and are really happy just caring for the doll. Often ex carers will believe they’re one of the staff and enjoy helping feed the other residents. I’ve met men who think they’re with their mates and want to go to the pub and that can be play acted in the nursing home albeit with non alcoholic beer

Speaking from experience, wait until the pain has subsided if it's hormonal pain ❤ Then... you'll have your brain back for a week and you use that window of opportunity to change your food choices ❤❤ and walk 20 mins a day at first. If you can catch yourself on that better day you can build that habit. I take digestive enzymes and a pro biotic for the gut problems.

I suddenly gained weight about 7 years ago, it literally happened in 2 months. Since then I haven't been able to get rid of it, kept gaining weight- about 20 kilograms (about 3 kg every year). Now I believe I know when exactly my perimenopause started and that I might have up to 3 more years until menopause hits. The information you present here is life changing and reassuring. Thank you!

I am so thrilled I found you and wish I knew about you 10 years ago! My quality of life in menopause has been awful. I was 130lbs my entire life and once I hit 55, I blew up like a balloon and had to go on hormones to try and manage severe hot flashes. I am a sponge and want to learn more!

So glad I came across your site. My weight has been increasing over the years. I recently purchased a scale that shows the visceral and subcutaneous fat. I will now look at decreasing those two instead of weight. As a person who never really had weight issues until menopause, the weight gain has been really hard. I haven't had any good success with losing weight. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Two years into menopause I had gained some 14 pounds and I was already 14 pounds above my normal weight (I ended up weighing 158.7 pounds). I ate fairly well, had considerably reduced my intake of wheat, corn, rice and added sugar, I don't drink sodas EVER, I exercised as usual, but still couldn't lose weight. In December last year I decided to cut out on all those foods 100%, I also stopped drinking wine and reduced my intake of dairy products to just 25 ml of milk per day, no cheese. In 3 days I lost 5.5 pounds whereas in a year I had lost only 3.3 pounds. In 8 months I lost 24 pounds but my body fat percentage indicated that I was still overweight although I weighed 134.4 pounds. In all those months I lost only 5% body fat. I forgot to tell you that in December I also started intermittent fasting 12/12. Two weeks ago I changed to 16/8 . In just one week I lost 2% of my body fat. I still have some 4% to lose to be at a normal percentage but I was amazed at the efficiency of intermittent fasting at getting rid of my excess body fast. Simply unbelievable.

Marivi Palimino. It sounds like your weight loss can be attributed to two things, the elimination of most dairy (dairy is high sodium and can cause fluid retention) and other inflammatory foods, plus the intermittant fasting. IF is a game-changer but the elimination of inflammatory foods also factors greatly in your weight loss. IF is just not as effective if we are still consuming foods that are inflammatory to our body.

This is what happened to me. I have gained 35 lbs over the last 3 years, while I'm going through menopause. I'm dealing with weight gain in my abdomen, when I've always had a flat stomach. I'm now pre-diabetic, which is my biggest fear, because I've lost my grandmother and aunt to complications due to diabetes. This is ringing alarms. I know I have an excessive amount of visceral fat.

I sustained a flat stomach after 4 children in my 20’s and 30’s (3 c-sections) and suddenly at age 51 (I'm 53 too), I gained about 15-20lbs and majority is in abdomen and breast. I started HRT and am getting back into weights because my trainer did the in-body scan and said I need to lose 15lbs of fat and gain 5lbs of muscle. it doesn't move the scale much, but would make me look and feel better and stronger. I need to work on my diet. i love your videos and just pre-ordered your book! thanks for you message!

Just came across this video. You're describing me perfectly... I am 63 now and went through early menopause (done by 50), and am a 'healthy' weight for my height (6 feet, 160 lbs). But my belly fat has increased while my weight has gone down or remained the same especially the last 4-5 years...despite hiking, working out regularly. Going to increase my protein intake and see what difference that makes. Don't want to lose weight, but I do want to gain muscle.

I’m struggling to loose the 50lbs of fat I put on after stroke at 47 ( no risk factors!). I’ve never been fat in my life until now, 7 years later I’m 53 & in menopause ( also had a hysterectomy same year as my stroke). I’m doing IF, increasing my protein, started working out 11 min on bike to warm up & lifting weights. I’m not regular with my workouts as I struggle with chronic pain stroke left me with neuropathy like pain on my affected side. I’m going to watch everything you have!

First, I am so glad I came across your channel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Fatigue is very big and I already have a inflammatory process in my body with Ulcerative Colitis (IBD) that makes me very tired. I have worse depression and anxiety. I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis at 48 shy a month of 49, so I was probably already starting Peri menopause. Now in Peri and 54 years old going on 55 in a couple of months, I still have me period. I have very increased rage, breast tenderness, wired feeling a week before and can't sleep, heart palpitations and seen a cardiologist, stinky sweat, hot flashes, etc. I cannot take HRT because during a severe flare in my colitis, hospitalized and got a DVT blood clot and on blood thinners. So not hormone replacement. I really suffer with daily things because of it. I used to be a woman that ran to the gym, worked out all the time, and good health. I know to not have the energy. I do walk an hour a day with my dog. Thank God for my dog. It really does help, but it is not enough to fight fat in the waist that I did not have before.

Finally a conversation that affirms what a lot of us 50 yr old menopausal women are going through. Definitely can't eat or drink sugary stuff anymore, contributes to gastritis/ ibs/ sibo/gerd. The chronic dry mouth, starts effecting our gums and teeth . Pretty much like falling off a cliff.

I was always thin and muscular until I turned 55 and menopause ran over me with the belly fat train. I gained 20 lbs all around my stomach and back, and could not get it to come off no matter what foods I ate or eliminated, how much I fasted, exercised or tried everything known to man. Then I started using the progesterone my doctor gave me, and in four weeks the belly fat was off and my muscle tone is back. Hormones. That’s what did it! Hormones.
