As a Starcraft player since 1998, saying “gg” after you lost was common etiquette. Everyone said gg to signal you gave up and was universally seen as rude to leave without saying gg in Starcraft. I find it interesting the rise in popularity of the phrase gg.

Gotta thank you for this series Danya. I began watching it from the Caro-Kann episode. Basically just built up from there and I've finally broken into the 2000s. You explain the moves so well that the logic for 1800 elo applies even now with higher rated players.

Love how you stuck to your original plan, And that e5 pawn with the nasty d6 bishop just cramped blacks position and proper development. I think I've been on the loosing side of a similar position myself and it sucked. Thank you Sensei.

Obviously I'd be thrilled if Danya had won, but a draw against So with the black pieces is a good result for anyone. Danya is piling on the points in the last few rounds after a tough start and it's great to see.

@@cobra-gaming7662 I know that, and I know there is a so called super GM as an informal chategory above GM level. But at this rating level, 500 points doesn't make as much of a diference as in 1200 level, for example. A 1200 has more probability of winning against a 1100 than a 2600 against a 2500. Just reflect on that if didn't understand it at first.

Games in the French often seem to go like this - lots of setup then a sudden collapse and in hindsight one of the many many innocent-looking quiet moves ends up being a massive mistake.

Finally a good line against the French for white! Looking on the Lichess database, it seems like a pretty rare line too, so unlikely that most opponents will see it. Very healthy win rate for white, and the engine says only like -0.2 or so, meaning there is good compensation for the pawn.

I'm kinda sad that even at the 2000+ level Danya is just crushing them almost immediately out of the opening lol, I enjoy the drawn out games with theory tactics etc, and this latest edition of the speed run hes essentially just been able to buzz saw everybody. This was quite poor play from our opponent. Guess I cant expect better from a french player playing it like a system. Just pretending white has played c3 and blitzing out memorized lines even though clearly the position does not match it. Shameful honestly
