I have had this car for 17 years and just now getting around to installing a dual brake master cylinder on the car to make it more safe. I did replace the single bowel master cylinder when I got the car because I needed the car to have working brakes. It has worked good for all these years but I am worried that it might fail because how old it is. If it does fail you have no brakes!!!!!!!
This video was made as a demonstration on how to repair things and should not be done with out the proper training and safety equipment. Hey there, just converted to the basic Wilwood front disc kit last summer on my 65.. I too ordered the 70's era manual disc master cylinder, and ran into the same 9/16 flare nut issue. Actually both connections are different than the standard 3/16 flare nut. Fortunately, the local Napa store folks, too pity on me, and allowed me to search fittings bins, and wound up with correct 5/16 nut and adapters to get up to the 9/16 size. Fabbing up the lines was a pain in the ass, as my flares needed some practice work.. Though what a freaking difference, after 25 years of it pulling from the left or right depending if the old drum brakes were cold or hot. It's a dream to drive. What an idiot I was, waiting this long to upgrade.. I also bought a $200 Granada for to do a cheap brake conversion, only to have scrappers steal them from my yard before I could use them !!!! Gob bless you brother...

I have 5 lug rotors from a conversion kit for my Ranchero that fits the spindle of a V6. I wasn't aware of the difference in spindles so I had to order different ones. They are just sitting there. If you live near Katy, Texas feel free to pick them up.

Amateur here. I'm converting my front drums to discs on my 64 Ranchero. I purchased a conversion kit that included a double chamber master cylinder attached to a vacuum power booster. The problem is that there is no space because the master cylinder hits the shock tower. Would it be prudent to just remove the power booster? As is, I'm already upgrading from a single chamber to a double chamber master cylinder so I believe it to be a step up. Please help.

I would call the company that you got the kit from and tell them that is does not fit. Maybe they sent you the wrong stuff. You can remove the booster and use the master cylinder but you won't know how hard its going to be to push the pedal until its all installed. That Ranchero is pretty light so you probably do not need the booster. Thanks for watching. @@TheGAutomotiveAndMore Thank you for the response. I contacted Mac's whom sold me the kit but not much help. After several months I was able to chat with a tech who told me ABS makes them. Ed in ABS is now helping me. The bad thing is that I bought this years ago in anticipation of this stage of the project.

Why doesn't anyone show you how to disconnect the master cylinder from pushrod/ brake pedal?

No room for the camera. Its just a cotter pin you pull out and then the rod comes off the pedal pin.
