more like Round 3 with that first trailer for the first movie, which i feel bad we have to acknowledge every time with these movies, but we have come so far it's more of a milestone that Hollywood listened to fans to make a movie better. the story is still "good" but it was all about Sonic and thank goodness it happened! sure~ people would have still gone and seen it for how bad it was, but it would have gotten the same staple as other Video Game movies: bad. now with Sonic 2, we can say we made it!

Honestly this looks even better than the first movie. Tails and Knuckles sound great, Eggman sporting a more reminiscent design of his in-game appearance, the appearance of the Master Emerald, overall it seems to be more targeted towards longtime fans of the series than the casual crowd. And I'm all for it.

When I watched this I was so hyped with Knuckles being a straight badass In the comics and in the video game, Robotnik tells Knuckles that Sonic stole the Master Emerald, so Knuckles, as the guardian, wants to take it back. This is gonna be soooo much better than the first!

I love how that's the actual current VA they got for Tails. Like movie Tails is being voiced by the current VA for game Tails. Colleen O'Shaughnessey; who also voices Charmy Bee, I found that out when looking it up to fact-check myself. That's how you know there's a lot of love and effort put into these movies now. Also, something I found out recently about the Sonic movie in light of the announcement of the cast of another video game movie. In early productions, of like rough drafts of like posters and stuff, probably like way before casting was finalized, it wasn't even James Marsden. Apparently they initially wanted Chris Pratt for the main human guy; it wasn't an uncanny resemblance, it was literally Chris Pratt. Don't get me wrong, you can like characters played by Chris Pratt, but Chris Pratt himself is pretty yikes, to put it mildly.

That would be just as amazing and hilarious as Sanic showing up in the first movie as a poorly drawn likeness picture from the one guy who had seen him prior to the movie, and it wouldn't be a fall flat joke, because like Sanic it fits in the context of the story naturally. If you don't get the joke it still functions as a dramatic line without being an awkward 'pause for laughter' moment. He could say the line, people who get it would laugh, people who don't wouldn't be taken out of the moment by it.

Gotta say, the team behind this series got my respect back when they listened to fans and pushed back the release of the first movie to redesign Sonic and the first film ended up being a hit. I didn't think I would like it as much as I did and I'm happy it did well enough at the box office to get a sequel. My respect for them has only grown with this trailer; they've refined Sonic's design and the effects involving him and nailed it with Tails and Knuckles, not to mention they kept Colleen on as Tails instead of going with a more famous actor. Never thought I'd actually be excited for a Sonic movie franchise but damn, this looks good.

Shadow has a very complicated backstory that might not transition well into a 2 hour movie… he was created by the blood of an alien race and the power of the chaos emeralds to replicate old murals depicting Super Sonic all so he could cure the sonic universe equivalent of aids… you could drop a lot of the details but Maria, The Ark, Gerald, and the GUN soldiers who killed them need to be in the movie for shadows identify to work out

im so hyped for this movie! if we gonig by the games, they meet knuckles in sonic 3, in sonic 2 there was metal sonic, so i feel like if they made a third movie they would do metal sonic

Considering this movie features Tails first appearance (Sonic 2) and Knuckles first appearance (Sonic 3). I think the third movie center around Sonic CD considering that would be the opportunity to introduce time travel into the future and past. This would also introduce fanfavorites such as Amy and Metal Sonic.
