Fun fact: The director of the Sonic movies, Jeff Fowler, is not only a fan of the games, but he actively worked on the animation and cutscenes for Shadow's standalone game back in 2005, hence why some of Shadow's action sequences in the trailer look very familiar. If you listen closely in the second half of the trailer they have an orchestral version of "I am... all of me" playing. Here's hoping it's an actual part of the movie's score and not just a trailer thing. The Green Hill zone theme in the first half of the trailer goes hard too. It reminded me of Silver's theme a little bit.

for those questioning Gerald being alive keep two things in mind: 1.Dr.Gerald was a scientist that specialised in Bio Technology and he created Shadow the Ultimate Life Form, he could have also created clones of him self. 2. Sonic movie do not follows everything exactly like the games, it just makes sure not to mess to much with what is canon in the games. over all gerald being alive in the movie is a different aproach and knowing what Dr.Gerald could do there is plenty of room for this possibility. (There is also the possibility that Eggman might be suffering from a delusion during that moment in time too, it all depends on the story that is being told in the movie)

Calling it now. Rouge is not in Sonic 3. Rouge will be featured in Sonic 4 where she will be the secondary antagonist. Sonic 4 will focus on Sonic Adventure 1’s story and would thus be primarily be a story about Chaos. Rouge is fascinated by the chaos emeralds and steals them all, one by one, including Knuckle’s Master Emerald, completely oblivious to the entrapped Chaos entity within. Why Shadow is the way he is? Someone killed his dog, found out that much of his life has been a dream, and had an incident where he had to keep going above 5,000 mph or he'll explode. Plus he never had a Tardis to help him pass the history project and was send to a military school as a result.
