@@Lifelessdummy the funny thing tho is that I actually was fine with the 1st trailer except the design for real. I honestly though gangsters paradise was a good fit for him. Especially if we find out the freedom fighters are a thing. Here's what I think the story is Sonic and eggman are fighting 1 day when they both get pulled into earth and meet their seperate people Eggman is swindling the military to let him CAPTURE sonic while also secretly plotting to take it over like he did everything on mobius. Hence the song Gangsters paradise Sonic was spending his early years fighting eggman relentlessly(gangsters paradise) .

Apparently, part of the reason the first trailer focused so much on Robotnik was because those shots of 'Sanic' were basically the *only* VFX shots they had finished at the time. So it was easier to redesign Sonic and re-render the shots than if they had a lot more of the movie completed.

How is it that so many fans dont know what a warp(not portal) ring is? It's been around since sonic the hedgehog 1 on genesis. It was used to transport to a different special zone at the end of the level.

I read in an article talking about this redesign that, apparently the artist behind the archie comics, who also apparently had a hand in the Sonic Mania cinematic intro, headed the redesign. If that's true, it's no wonder he looks true to form.

The director of Detective Pikachu I believe said in an interview (when asked about Sanic) said that they worked closely with Nintendo and GameFreak for over 2 years on each of the pokemon design in the movie. I believe I read that Paramount never consulted with Sega once during initial character design, only showing them the final version art days before the reveal. If true, that shows you from the beginning what they goal was, but I think i saw in an interview that the director of Sonic said he and the producer had no creative control over the character design initially?
