@MCA2A3 жыл бұрын
I have a couple tips for you, but not as an insult. I love your confidence and that you care about your quality. One, use frog tape. (Green) It seals when it gets wet, unlike blue. Two, you probably already knew this, but you didn't take it down to chalk, there was still wax on it. Three, a couple coats of a good sealer will not only protect the floor, but deepen the overall shine. Someone already mentioned the flat mop, but for those who want to use a typical mop head, use rayon mop heads only. They don't shed lint as do cotton mop heads. Four, come back in 48 hours, clean, burnish, sweep, and mop extremely well, then lay down 3 or 4 more coats. Not only will it greatly increase the durability, but the shine as well. If you do those things, that shit will need less maintenance and look wet! You can even burnish, etc. more than once during the process and it will be even better
@WatchMeWorkEntertainment3 жыл бұрын
Ooook where should I start.... 1. I didn't take it down to the "chalk" because I work at a hospital that doesn't supply all the necessary equipment and its only a 8 hour shift. 2. I have used the frog tape and its really no different if you know how to wax over the tape. 3. You're right a nylon mop aka wax mop is better than a string mop. Micro fiber mops are best. And last I didn't make this video necessarily for tutorial purposes but more for editing purposes.
@MCA2A3 жыл бұрын
@@WatchMeWorkEntertainment Ok. I was just trying to be nice, for one. Number two, It would be better to come back another night and add more wax then to leave old wax on the floor. Number 3, maybe you shouldn't refer to yourself as the best floortech if you don't do the job correctly or you can't finish in the allotted time. As for not having what you need, are you using stripper or hot water? If you have stripper than you have no excuses. As I said, I was just trying to be nice and helpfull. I personally love to learn new things, even when I believe I know a ton about a subject and that's why I was watching. I'm sorry you seem to be sensitive about your claim to be tge best floortech. Personally, I thought you were average as far as the work performance.
@MagnusZero3 жыл бұрын
@@MCA2A I'm gonna be real with you. Not disrespecting - just calling it as I see it. You seemed to be the one who got a bit too sensitive and took his response the wrong way, because nowhere in his reply did I see him biting back on your "niceness," especially when he even agreed with one of your points... Resulting in trying to tear down the man's quality of work to "average" over him simply not conforming to your methods is a bit harsh, dude. Yeah, he didn't take it all the way down to the bare tile and could've laid a couple more coats, but the floor still came out WAY better than what I've seen on average. A lot of hospital techs don't detail nearly as well as he did either. As a hospital worker myself, it is a known fact management does not care about ordering optimal equipment and supplies for their techs. Hospital techs have to improvise A LOT to accommodate for poor-quality products. I thought it used to just be hospitals in my state, but it turns out that's commonplace in general... If you don't have the right pad for the job or a good brush (which I don't think this guy did, which may have been one of the necessities he claimed to lack) or quality stripper, you'll have one hell of a time getting all that old wax up... an 8 hour shift won't cut it, especially since hospital floor techs usually have to multitask these days with more than one project, or management insisting you strip a larger area at once all by yourself. I'm assuming he couldn't make overtime either, so that's another factor. You've gotta be more considerate of someone's circumstances because you're not really there and wouldn't know the working conditions. If the guy really didn't have quality products to work with, he did a damn good job with what he had.
@MCA2A3 жыл бұрын
@@MagnusZero I'm not going to lie. I didn't really take the time to read that book you left..just skimmed a couple things. You mightcbe right, I might have misunderstood what he said. If I did, I am sorry. I wasn't sensitive, just calling it as I saw it at the time. I have been a manager and just a worker and let me tell you, I do care about getting the right stuff. Also, my point wasn't that he didn't have the right stuff in general, it was he wasn't using the chemical properly. Look in the instructions for stripper and it will tell you to let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. (depending on the stripper) You don't jist put stripper down and then agitate it, you let it do it's job and it comes right up easily. That was basically a top scrub and nothing more. Now, you might be ok with only top scrubbing when it is time for a full strip and refinish, but I refuse to cut corners and that's the difference between average and great. To top it all off, he did claim to be the best floortech, did he not? I've done a lot of old shitty floors with all sorts of chemicals and still get the wax off the floor. I understand some people don't care or haven't learned the propper ways of doing it, but it can be done.

Some similarities to my custodial work, but swinging back and forth is not the way I was taught. Lay stripper wait 15-20 minutes to allow wax to loosen, then when stripping as I pass back and forth I move machine in a circular motion to remove wax properly. Swinging back and forth doesn`t remove old wax correctly

I seen you left the blue tape on at the end before you finished you last coat of wax. Doesn’t that leave a stripping residue or a line after wards from the tape? And if so how do you get it out ? Sorry having that issue every time I strip or scrub to the next section, drives me crazy. Any advice would be great thank you
@WatchMeWorkEntertainment3 жыл бұрын
You have to make sure that your tape is lined up the floor seams. Also use painters tap. You don't have to push the tape completely to the floor. And if that still does not work try using a little piece of a red or green pad depending on how well the tape residue is showing and lightly scrub and buff it back with a tan pad.

@TheBossman1116 Жыл бұрын
Time for a bad review/comment. I do floor care at my local hospital. Doing it this way would get you fired. The process is far too long. Use a Autoscrubber instead of the Side By and the Extraction Wet/Vac. Also NEVER walk in stripper. You didn't use nearly enough wax, especially for a high traffic area. I can also tell your fan for drying was on during the whole time you were waxing, rookie mistake.
@WatchMeWorkEntertainment Жыл бұрын
Ok where should I start?? First your assessment is TRASH!! If I would get fired at your hospital for STRIPPING a floor with an auto scrubber I would be happy to leave. You can walk in stripper ONCE u have gone over it which is what I did. And there is NO ROOKIE mistake. I used the blowers while I was waxing to get it to dry quicker. IT TAKES SKILLS TO BE ABLE TO WAX WHILE IT'S DRYING which you obviously don't have. Thank you sir have a nice day!
@TheBossman1116 Жыл бұрын
@@WatchMeWorkEntertainment you misread my comment sir. What I said was you'd get fired here for taking that long in such a small area. You mentioned it took you a little less than 8 hours to wax the section in your video. Second, the reason I mentioned the fans being on during waxing is due to the fans blowing dust/hair/debris into the fresh, wet wax. You sir are the one who needs more/better training.
