One of my fave directors. Very much underrated today. Quite an amazing grasp of every aspect of the film making process.

This doc is something. I don't know what. A lot of films that he did NOT make well are not acknowledged.

I am annoyed that little time was spent on Seconds which is easily Frankenheimer's best film.

One of my favorite directors, and his cinematic CV is impressive, in the final years of his career he, alongside J. Lee Thompson and Andrew V. Mclaglen, were the last three directors of the 50s, old-fashioned Hollywood, making the purest of possible entertainment, directing films that marked the childhood of many, thank you John Frankenheimer ❤
Exactly. His last GREAT film and it was glossed over.

@@DarkFireFly64 i won't argue over whether it was good or great, but path to war (2002) is a much more impressive undertaking overall.

"Dramatic content over just sociological statement". Just? Just? Without "sociological statement" movies degenerate into chewing gum for the unwashed masses.
@ricardocantoral76728 ай бұрын
Yeah, I agree with "Just". A movie that is only dedicated to a sociological statement is worthless. You want to send a message? Give the audience bleeding, sweating humanity. Give them pain, not a dry lecture like a stuffed shirt university professor. Brian De Palma's Carlito's Way is one of my favorite examples. With this story of a gangster trying to get out of his rough world, De Palma ends up making a powerful statement about society as a whole: We are all too preoccupied with the accumulation of meaningless things
