This video was amazing! So much useful information to understand why I've been more successful with breeding in certain tanks and not others. I haven't had a mass death yet, but I think it's because my tap water is very good and I monitor my tanks very closely. I use planted tanks and a sponge filter so it balances out the bioload and siphon areas with a baster that don't have plants. My maintenance is not as efficient as others but my slower and more minimal cleaning has always been about keeping a delicate balance. It seems I've selected good plants in my successful tanks. Some slow growers like moss, but mixed with medium growers too. And he's right...those tanks are flourishing. I also kept some botanicals. They love Catappa leaves, especially the babies! I keep those in areas without plants so I can easily clean those areas when things eventually break down.

You guessed the lens correct! Gmaster 16-35 my favorite lens. Now mew one coming next month 16-35 Mark II a little bit smaller and better, will defiantly upgrade because of the shorter focus distance, good for filming shrimp, I can get 5cm closer without losing focus, that's what i need

This video is so informative thank you for making it! His opinion on inbreeding is interesting since for every other livestock I've taken care of, it's considered bad. From what I know lava rocks are for the most part inert. Is there specific types of lava rock or was my information incorrect? I've also heard no-planaria can help against limpets as well but haven't tested it out so I'd like to know your opinion on that. Been wanting to get into caridina but I worry about the soil losing its buffer after a couple of years since I like making long term planted tanks. Is there a way to lower the pH without adding tannins or disturbing the soil or are those the only methods?

that 'brown wall' is brown algae. usually happen at low nitrate, low light conditions. technically function similarly to green algae. I'm guessing he's saying it's not good probably because it's not preferred food source for the shrimp and it occupy space for green algae to grow. It could also be biofilm which is just microorganisms/bacteria build up.
@ShrimpMania Жыл бұрын
Interesting, I thought about it too and I have some of brown in some of my tanks. I think it's not that bad at all. But scraping sometime works good to grow more healthier one. Sometimes I have very soft and short hair algae on the walls and after I shave it I normally have a healthy green one.

@davcar872 Жыл бұрын
Hi there! When it comes to water changes, it's generally safe to make changes of any amount as long as you take certain precautions. It's important to ensure that the RO water you use closely matches the parameters of your tank. Additionally, it's a good idea to introduce the new water slowly using a drip method. This will help you keep an eye on pH, temperature, and TDS levels and make any necessary adjustments along the way. By taking these steps, you can help ensure a smooth transition and minimize the risk of sudden pH and temperature swings that could stress your shrimp. Lastly, I also recommend using Calcium Montmorillonite Clay once per week to help maintain a healthy environment for your shrimp.
