During mixing in the analogue domain that tape gets a lot of back-and-forth over the tape heads. Lots of wear and tear there.

Hi Guido, thanks for another piece of important information. I’m curious. Are you storing your tapes “tape out”? Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the videos! Personally I'm into analogue, so anytime you talk vinyl or tape I'm in! But why in the heck is this studio dropping a perfectly good analogue master tape into the digital domain, when they could just as easily master it in analogue. There's no shortage of excellent all analogue mixing consoles available (I have one beside me). Yes it takes longer to do an all analogue mix, and the skill set is a bit different, but when you're trying to create "the best of the best", i would stay in the analogue domain.

How many copies would you get from a master ? Tapes wear out after not that many playings, also the recorder heads would get worn-out, heads are very expensive to get replaced.

I’m a big vinyl collector and I really hope someone day to be able to buy tape albums like you can buy vinyl albums

There seems to be an odd phase problem on the samples you played in the video. It sounds like the channels are out of phase. The samples on the two websites are fine.

Agree, the playback is very muted, out of phase, and low in volume. I am sure that the tape truly doesn't sound that bad.... (?)

His analog capture is notoriously bad.

Sure they are great but extremly expensive

Sorry, if Digital is in the chain, you do not need the Tape. Game over. After the D-Step you can create an High-Res-File and that's it. Why transfer it via AD to a tape? Will decrease the quality. Tapes have to be fully AAA in my opinion. That's the magic I am will to pay the price for those tapes... Cheers Stefan

Luckily for me, the few albums I would like to have on tape will never be released on tape. Far, far, FAR too expensive!

500 for a single tape of a digital recording? Hmm...

Sorry, I'm out. Now that this is the tape channel, I have no interest.
