The Germans relied heavily on horses throughout the Second World War. This tutorial is very valuable. I still have some Cossacks and a limber or two to paint. I have a video to reference now. Thank you.

Yeah, I really wasn't aware how heavily they relied on horses during the war, crazy! Thanks buddy 😀

Looking good only one issue. The square thing underneath the saddle is a blanket and therefore would be a greenish grey color.

Ah, damn lol. How on earth did I miss that?! Thanks for the correction 🤭

Very cool & useful, always good to see sound methods for addressing the strange fear some folks seem to have of painting horses. Not one I share for me horses are some of the most fun things to paint

Thanks a lot buddy! Honestly, I'm not a fan of painting animals so I wanted something quick and easy 🤭

They turned out well mate. Great shout out for Loki's Great Hall channel 👍I also recommend the Javier Gomez book, "Painting Wargame Figures", it has a very useful chapter on horses. I think there will be more horses in your future 🙂

Haha thanks mate, definitely not my best work but I paint tanks, not horses ;) I'll definitely check that book out!

What other option do I have besides wire for the reins/limber straps? Plasticard? I want something flat. Great video.

@bearcub460 WOW! Thank you for my first super 😍 it really does mean so much to me 🤩 In terms of the straps, plasticard is a great option! If you want something quick and straight you could try brush strands from a cheap dust pan and brush set?

@bearcub460 absolutely but would initially be tricky I'd say 😬

just use oils. quicker and more variation. can base coat in different color acrylics and then oils on top. wipe the oil down where you want highlights.

Yeah, I think I'd probably just airbrush them next time but not everyone has access to an airbrush hence the paint job 😅 I'll definitely look at giving your idea a go next time!

What colour did you use for the limber itself?

Great question mate! I think from memory it was Tamiya XF-63 German Grey (airbrush) and then dry brushed with London Grey. It's been a while so I hope this helps lol.
