Just want to say a big thank you! All of your CoX guides have been ESSENTIAL for me to learn how to CoX solo (well, my first cox runs in general). Simply the fact that you have tile markers on, true tile and visual metronome, makes it much easier to follow along. You then show by example and describe exactly what you're doing and what to do when messing up. No counting ticks, no going by feel and getting frustrated.

@@conorr9308 So glad to hear you enjoyed the guide! I hope it helps! To answer your question, at 5:50 you might have heard me say "because we splashed we take an extra hit", that means that I hit a bunch of zeroes in a row. unlucky. But he was already in the 4:1 cycle. So just because he turned mid and "saw" me he shot an extra basic attack, but it doesnt matter. Just stay in the 4:1 cycle, because we were already in it. Kinda confusing. TBH if youre using a lance you will rarely see this happen. It was mostly because I was using a whip and its not nearly as accurate so "splashing" can happen more often. GL!

In depth question, love it. You're right! Basically, when he head is "turning" he would actually be casting a special attack + a basic attack (turn left, turn right) Then when you're hitting him, he does a basic attack + an empty event. That's exactly what is happening while running 3:1 or 4:1! You got it

What do you think of the most common method for getting into 4:1 which is to stand on the second row of the thumb tile and attack on the tick after Olm attacks? Also is there a reason why you do the 2 attacks on the ring and index ringer rather than 2 on the thumb? Let me clarify one thing first. For 4:1 and 3:1 cycles you are tanking an auto and a null. So, if it's null+auto and auto (two consecutive autos) you do a 2:1 or 3:1 (for 3:1 and 4:1 respectively) because you take one less hit and that puts you back in cycle. If you see an auto and then a special, you do a 1:0 and that puts you back in cycle. However, if you see a special+auto (like at7:16) and then an auto, and you do a 1:0, you will see two consecutive autos in the next 3:1 or 4:1 cycle, in which case you just do a 2:1 or 3:1 to rectify. Is this correct?
@flavioespanol88685 ай бұрын
Hi buddy, can i confirm we need to do the 1:0 if there's a special attack even if we have started on the correct cycle? i e starting from right hand side we've clicked attack on correct tick. Or, is this only if we're on the wrong attack tick?
@VideoGameBot5 ай бұрын
If you are running 3:1 or 4:1 correctly (your movement is perfect) and olm is still casting special attacks, simply do a 1:0 and it will force him to stop doing special attacks. At that point he will either automatically fall into cycle, or you can do "1 less hit" (aka 2:1 or 3:1, respectively) to force him into the 3:1 or 4:1 cycle.

The additional movement is to dodge potential flame walls. If you stand still you risk getting caught in the flame. You also need to be somewhat close to your middle tiles to end your 4:1 cycle because you dont have enough ticks to run from pinky to mid (after attacking) in 4 ticks.

It definitely has to be tick perfect. I high recommend perfecting your 3:0 mage before jumping into methods like 4:1 or 3:1. Easing into the fight mechanics starting with 3:0 mage and 1:0 melee will make things significantly easier when learning. If still having trouble, considering practicing head mechanics. No attacks. Just run far left and far right and pay attention with how the head spins with respect to your visual metronome. Take note: if you notice the head is turning on tick 3 for example, that means you need to click on tick 2, so your avatar begins running on tick 3 (same tick olm turns his head) I hope this helps. Don't give up. Go in with a learners mindset. Things get easier with practice!

There is a chance that he throws a flame wall. If you walk right then back left real quick you have a good chance of avoiding it!

Only necessary on flame phases or p3 when all the phase specific attacks are available. If you get crystal or acid p1/p2 you can skip the jump step and just walk towards thumb with your empty ticks. My third hit should be in the thumb instead of the middle finger, right? I think I cant reach the left side in time if I do this third hit in the middle finger, or can I? And this 3:1 to set olm should be done after a 4:1 where I see the two consecutive attacks, right?
@higoralmeidamazzeo6616 ай бұрын
Also another thing I see people saying is that to set olm I should wait a tick in my third hit of the first 4:1 I throw at Olm. In this pathing you show in the video, is already a tick late?
@VideoGameBot6 ай бұрын
@@higoralmeidamazzeo661 your 3rd hit can be middle finger, but your 4th hit should definitely be on the thumb. I dont think you will be able to get left fast enough if youre not 4th hitting from the thumb. Yes, the 3:1 should be directly after a 4:1 where you see 2 regular attacks. When people talk about "lagging" a tick, I think they are probably referring to 3:1. You have to lag a tick after your 3rd hit while doing 3:1. 4:1 is tick perfect or you fall out of sync.

Is there a correlation between the tick you attach on during 3:0 mage hand, to what tick you should attack hand in 4:1 / start 4:1? So if 3:0 mage was on Tick 1 with the plugin, is there a quick way to get straight into the cycle knowing that? My issue has been working out which tick I should be clicking the hand after running left, which would help recover after getting out of cycle
@VideoGameBot8 ай бұрын
There is! Let's hypothetically say olm is attacking on tick 1: When you do 3:0, you also attack on 1. When you did 1:0, you began running on tick 1. Now, when you do either 4:1 or 3:1 (doesn't matter which) you begin the cycle on tick 1. Hope that helps!

Thanks so much for the reply. Appreciate the different approach you use for Olm, visual ticks are what clicks for me, so it's been super helpful.

I've gotten a few solo kcs thanks to your guides, what's confusing me is how to move when I want to do 3:1 with 4t weapon after two olm autos to set up 4:1 Which hit am I skipping? Ty for the awesome guides!
@VideoGameBot8 ай бұрын
To do a 3:1 as you described you will want to do 3 hits, and then instead of staying for your 4th hit, run immediately back to the "left" tile where you begin your engage from. When you hit him for your 3rd time, he will hit you once (with a basic attack), at that point you stop attacking and run left. Then go right back into cycle.

let's say I 1:0 twice and do 4:1 after will it be 100% in cycle all the time ?
@VideoGameBot6 ай бұрын
No. Lets say you do a 4:1, and olm uses one of his special attacks (lightning, portals, or crystals). At this point you do a single 1:0 After that you go back into the 4:1 cycle. He will either be automatically set (50%) or he will use a double normal attack (50%). If hes set, just do 4:1 til the hand dies. If he uses 2 basic attacks, perform a 3:1 (and then he will be set)

Whats if the special is not crystal but lighting or portal? Can I avoid them by quiting attacking and then go back to 4:1 until the special is crystals?

why do you click 1 tile back of the hand in between attacks? is that necessary?
@VideoGameBot7 ай бұрын
its useful for dodging potential flame wall attacks. In this video it didn't happen, but sometimes he throws a flame wall on the tick i do that little "step back" technique. If you get into a habit of doing it all the time, you will most likely always dodge flame walls

just wondering if you have a quick answer as to what tile to start from for both mage hand and melee hand if you die and re enter the fight
@VideoGameBot7 ай бұрын
I don't have a good answer for this one :\ Anything can happen when you re-enter Olm's chamber. We dont know where in cycle he will be. I am pretty sure he will keep turning his head on the same tick he was before you died though.

@kye42305 ай бұрын
its weird, the methods seem simple, yet im seriously terrible at it lol. all i can think is that im not timing the head right because the actual movement patterns seem so simple
@VideoGameBot5 ай бұрын
I suggest starting with 3:0 and 1:0 to get the head mechanics down. understand how the head works. Dont jump straight into 3:1 or 4:1 until you can do 3:0 perfectly. If youre struggling with 3:0, focus on simply running the head without attacking, just run far left, and far right, and use your visual metronome to understand what tick to "move" on. If olm turns his head on tick 4, you need to click on tick 3 (that way you also run on tick 4). Dont get frustrated, take it slow, go in with a learners mindset and if you die its ok, the only thing you lose is points. Take it small steps at a time, and work your way up to the higher level tech
@kye42305 ай бұрын
@@VideoGameBot definitely right I think where I was going wrong was starting the fight with a dwh spec and then just trying to get in rhythm with the 3:0 but whereas your guides specify starting with the mage to be on a certain tick is what I need to do until I’m more confident with the mechanics of the head

Probably a stupid question, but how do you do a 3:1 cycle with lance (where and when do I attack)? If I'm not misataken, there were no 3:1's performed with lance in the video. I assumed that the 3:1 with a scthe would also work for a lance, but somehow I seem to be a tick behind ( i.e. if the head turns on tick 1 I end up on the mid tile on tick 2 in the 4 tick cycle). Maybe I'm mising a tick somewhere? Honestly I'm quite confused. Any advice would be appreciated.
@VideoGameBotАй бұрын
to do a 3:1 while you are using your 4 tick weapon (lance) you would do: 1.) moving from left to right 2.) hitting from his pinky/ring finger 3.) go straight to his thumb and hit 3rd hit on his thumb then run immediately back left, and get back into your 4:1 cycle!
