Remember the stomping on the ground. Chambering up before needs to remind of climbing over a fence. If that does not feel natural it must be the curse of Sega or Nintendo.😢

I've been studying TKD for over thirty years at this point and hold Dan ranks in ITF (Ee Dan) and Chung Do Kwan (Cho Dan), so this is my bread and butter. That being said, I started training in Okinawan Kenpo about 2 years ago, and get yelled at all the time because they teach their side kick differently. Their chamber brings the knee across the chest.
@tkdguide Жыл бұрын
Yeah I hear ya, I got in trouble for chambering my front kicks differently than they teach in Uechi Ryu Karate when I was doing that.

How do you protect your groin with your kick chambered so high?
@tkdguide Жыл бұрын
Groins are for the weak. Just cut it off.
@ChrisMeece Жыл бұрын
LOL! Ouch! Well, my question was serious and wasn't a troll. I know groin shots are not allowed in TKD sparring but your art was (and is) used in combat. The kick is fast so is the philosophy that a defender would not have enough time to hit the groin before the sidekick landed? Great video! @@tkdguide
@tkdguide Жыл бұрын
@@ChrisMeece haha, sorry, I thought you were indeed trolling. The fact is, any attacking technique will leave some part of you vulnerable. If your technique is successful, it will be hard for them to counter it because it will have disrupted them in some way. If they counter your attack… well… that’s fighting. The better fighter is the one who can read the situation the fastest and respond the most appropriately.

I can’t speak to your medical condition, however, generally our bodies adapt to what we ask them to do. Keep practicing those chambers and I’m sure your body will make adaptations with time. Repetition is key. All the best!

3:30 cant agree wwith this. If you are really slow kicker then it makes some sense but if you are slow kicker you should kick at all. Chamberin more front will lead to a more powerful kick. When doing it fast chambering is good somewhere in between of these 2 examples he gives. But that someones going to attack you if you chamber to front, then you just suck and should train to be faster kicker before you even think about using sidekick in sparring/fight. He would better in mafia movie than MA teacher.
