Would love to see inside Level 2 if/when you have chance! Thank you for this too, very interesting to see inside as I'm still musing over the right fit for mine. 😄

It’s so hard to make a decision sometimes isn’t it. It was trial and error for us and masterbooks has been the right fit thankfully 🙌🏼

This is a great curriculum for a child who has completed kindergarten but is not quite ready for grade 1.

I’m so sorry I try to link as much as I can but don’t always get to it, is there anything in particular you’d like some links for?

This curriculum looks great. How do you handle the American to English things like the fact that learning money would be in American dollars in the book? I'm thinking of getting the books but I'm not sure what to do about that.
@blossomschoolhouse60593 жыл бұрын
Hey, so for currency and measurements we simply get out our coins or measuring items and replicate the concept being taught but with our own manipulatives and resources plus we supplement with a cheap uk math workbook like math made easy money and Oxford time and money workbooks. You could simple do a page of the uk book each day and skip that part of the curriculum if you used it. 💛

Looks a lovely curriculum, and it’s wonderful when you find a programme that works. What do you use for English? I watched your video and saw some beautiful TGATB books, and I wonder if use their Language Arts? We use their typing, handwriting and their Creative Notebooks, which are just fab, and so much more than I thought it would be. I’m tempted to buy TGATB readers from their library, do you know if their books match are levelled with the Language Arts programme. X

We have used TGATB in the past for LA and then we tried the MASTERBOOKS LA but for next year we’re going back to TGATB. We just love it so much! Sticking with masterbooks for math for the foreseeable. We use their handwriting too isn’t it beautiful! I’ve been eyeing up the creative notebooks. I can’t wait to get back to their LA. I’m pretty sure the books are matched with the levels 💛

@@blossomschoolhouse6059 thank you for your reply. I’ve watched lots of reviews on the LA of TGATB, was there something that made it not a great fit to start with? X

@@jessicajones611 so the only reason we went for masterbooks this year was because the level 1 LA we did was quite advanced for my daughter. We got through it but all I could think was that to jump in to level 2 from there would have been difficult. I’ve heard lots of others say they repeated level 1 again the following year and I thought about doing that but decided to get the masterbooks (a much gentler curriculum) in the next level, level 2 as a bridge between the TGATB level 1 and level 2, so she’ll be starting the level 2 in September. Can’t wait to be honest. I feel she’ll be in a much better place to take on everything it has to offer! X

@@blossomschoolhouse6059 thank you, I’ve heard it’s advanced. I have an 8 and 5 year old, boys, and was thinking lA 1 and LA 4, since my 5 year old would be technically in year 1 in Sept and level 4 for my 8 year old, who be ‘in’ year 4 in Sept, but perhaps this isn’t the right levels, do you if it’s better to go down a year group to match? Don’t want to get them something they can’t do, apologies for so many questions x
@blossomschoolhouse60593 жыл бұрын
@@jessicajones611 it’s definitely advanced and I believe they state on their website that they don’t necessarily go by grade level so it’s best to give the free assessment on their website to see if the level would be a good fit. I’m doing the level k with my 5 yo and the level 2 with my 7 yo but I purposely didn’t start them last year so that it’s more of a confidence booster with some challenges rather than a challenge the whole time which is what level 1 felt like. BUT that’s just me. It’s also down to the child and where they are comfortable. If they pass the assessment then it is a good level for them! Every child is so different. I’ll pop a link here for the assessment for you 💛

Really looking into this curriculum for maths. As its an American brand do you find you are making any adaptions, for example, currency? X
@blossomschoolhouse60593 жыл бұрын
Oh I should have mentioned this in the video, I will add it in description! But yes the only thing I need to supplement is currency with either a cheap U.K. math workbook like Collins or just U.K. coins and playing with money 💛

How would you compare it to The Good and The Beautiful maths? X
@blossomschoolhouse60593 жыл бұрын
We didn’t use TGATB math for very long and it was a while ago now but from what we did use I can say they are definitely different in the way lessons are laid out. Masterbooks is more of a gentle approach with lots of repetition, I believe TGATB are lunching a whole new math this year that’s completely changed so I’d be so excited to see what that’s like!

TGATB is more rigorous than this program from my experience. My daughters did not like the amount of questions of review at the end of every lesson. We ended up only doing evens or only doing odds for the review portion of the lessons because it quickly became overwhelming in the quantity of problems or not at all relevant to the lesson. We stopped TGATB and switched over to LOF and have been loving it! MLFALE is my 2nd choice though.
