There's nothing wrong with making a thick doughnut that has little to no air or fluffiness to it.. we call those cake doughnuts. They're made with a different type of batter but they're every bit as good as any other type of doughnut. Sometimes better. For example, as far as popular name brands go, Entenmans is my favorite and all they do is cake doughnuts. They're so damn good.
