Kings of War Strategy Report: MSU Armies!

An example of an MSU style army list for Kings of War! We're going with an example of Twilight Kin for the purposes of this video, but it can apply to about every single army in the game.
How to put together a Multiple Small Units (MSU) army and how to deploy them. MSU isn't for everyone but it may work out for you!

To counter that army is hard but effective shooters, refuse flank deployment and impassable terrain helps limit their coordinated efforts. Great insights guys:)!!!

Great video as usual. I usually play herd, my friend usually plays dwarfs. In our first few KoW games the beast packs really didn't impress either of us; however, in our 4th or 5th game I brought an MSU list with 4 beast packs and 3 units of hunters. He looked at me and said, "you haven't learned your beast pack lesson yet?" It was one of our most lopsided victories... for the beast PACK!! I've had good results throwing in a tracker with the dragon diadem, also. I vangaurds up, dances around units shooting flames at them, and is impossible to shoot.

+Thomas Brennan I love doing Dragon Diadem on Standard Bearers. Kind of makes them a mini mage. Inspiring is almost non-existent in Twilight Kin, it's a BIG boost to throw one of those in.

Last week I faced a woodsy elfsy Elf army that relied on MSU... in an Invade! mission.... My army was Undead, including Revenant cavalry, Soul Reavers, and the backbone of my army was a big ol' block of zombies. Oh, ye gods and little fishies, I managed to get TWO of my units into his deployment zone - he got EIGHT units into mine. My plan had been to Surge my Zombie Legion into his deployment, but he sacrifice a couple of cheap units to keep the Legion tied up for the entire game. Only the Revenant Cavalry and Soul Reavers were able to move fast enough to avoid being pinned by little units. Everything else was locked up long enough to deny me any chance of winning. Very good strategy with the right army, and a very good video - probably your best so far. The only other loss I have suffered in my local League has been to my own good lady, who was playing our Dwarf army. (I botched my deployment, and her Brock units took out my Zombie Legion in a single turn of combat. I was downright giddy. :) ) The Auld Grump

I have a list for Kingdoms of Men for 2400p that has more than 16 units and none of them are troop sized (hope it works well :P) Great video :D

Hi guys, I was wondering if Kyle has ever thought about using this type of list with Nightstalkers? I've been thinking that with the flying and faster units (and the high nerve) it might work out pretty well. The main issue being it lacks the long range shooting of twilight kin.

+George Kirke I think Fiends are the key to MSU in Night Stalkers. NS are generally a smidge more expensive than other armies for troop sized units. Fiends in Regiments for 130 is SO money to me with their speed. I'd take 4 units of them to build the base of the rest of the army. Shadowhounds also strike me as a good option in Troops to almost use as chaff and lock down other units while slower units like Reapers can get up to them quickly. I don't think I would go this build with my NS because the army is multi-based and I'm fairly close to being done collecting with them and wanted an elite army in them. I absolutely believe they can be an MSU force however.

I hadn't really thought of Fiends in regiments, good call, I think one of the keys might be Nightmares too. That maneuverability I find so useful in other setups. I've also been considering a list based around regiments of phantoms... I just can't deicde!

Good tactics but don't panic. Two war machines and a tifht frontage to keep msu getting to your flank and you'll do find 😄

Would love to hear some Ogre specific tactics. I'm thinking about a Boomer / Fireball-Mage heavy army with simple 2H Warrior support (Me 3+ and CS2 is priceless imho) and some Blasters (for fun and against "flyers in the back" shenanigans).
