I could flip tre's everytime, but struggled to keep it under my feet... started putting much more weight on my front foot... really helps keep it straight underneath you, eliminating the need to jump sideways... also looks way better when someone throws a tre and lands on the same line they started, IMO. Figured I'd throw it out there. Thanks for the video!

I'm sure it's frustrating but this is a great representation of what skateboarding is and why only people who can deal with disappointment and failure, and also shinners, keep at it. Props for not throwing your board like I would.
@driftlessskater5475 Жыл бұрын
I think that just doing some normal warm ups and not focusing on the pop shove it would help. Just cruise around and do some of your staples. Trying a bunch of pop shove it’s ahead of time will get you into a mind set of under rotation. Just cruising around and warming up on staple tricks will open up your mind a little bit more. Also, when I pop 360 flips, I move my back foot a little further over from where you have it (towards the toe side). I try to think about popping straight down while scooping. Sounds a little weird, but it keeps me from missing my good pop. I can’t wait to see you back at it. Even though it sucks to not have it yet, I think it’s a good thing for people to see the frustration that comes with wanting to master a trick, because as most of us know, it’s not easy.

Don’t give up! Your persistence and continually focused honing of your tre flip technique are inspirational and genuinely helpful. Please don’t allow the visceral disappointment of a difficult day/week to dishearten or discourage you. As a viewer it is clear to see that you *will* ultimately master this trick, it’s just a matter of a bit more time. …and, with sufficient patience and persistence of my own, I adamantly hope to accomplish the same. …eventually… lol 🛹⏳✅😅🏁🙌🏼 Really appreciate your content in general, and specifically the demonstration you gave illustrating precisely where to aim the back corner of the tail when ‘pop-scooping’ the tre flip is notably instructive. Thank you for all your time, effort, and dedication to your channel, your subscribers, and the craft of skateboarding. You’re doing a good job. 🫵🏼🏆🙏🏼

I did trays for years , when I first turn up to the park sometimes I just do them first pop . Other days if I wasn't doing them right I would just stand on the spot and flip the board around on the spot whilst other foot was on the ground , works grew for you muscle memory . Pyramids make them much easier I find . You don't even need to flick that front foot , just find that sweet spot and give it heaps lol .

Great progress ! For me, bending my knees a bit more before poping lets me jump higher an helps for consistency, and I think that's why your left foot wont come on the the board after you flip it right (sometimes, spending more time on the air lets you understand the situation better) Anyway, great work as always, hope there will be a day 11

You’re scoop is so much better than it used to be, I think now it’s time to focus on getting your front foot up and out of the way, think when you are kicking your front foot out 45 degrees in front for the flick, you also need to be bringing your front foot upward as well

@jakepimental6850 Жыл бұрын
Yo, so you need to move your front foot over to the left a little bit. Also Is helpful if you know pressure flips. if your foot is too far off your balance will be off and you push your board to far to your left when you spin. So you are turning to the right when you bend down due to your front foot being unstable. Its all about a better scoop and the best foot position that makes you feel sturdy will help you scoop perfectly.

Hey Joe, I saw the video when you try to flip it like Yuto, and when a played it on slow mo I found your problem i think. FIrst is your pop, you need to grab the side of the board with your toes and pop/push with more energy, second, your flip is a really short and slow movement, so you keep your feet on the board for too long and it doesnt allow your board to rotate at the right speed and energy, you try to kick it like a varial flip, but you need a much faster and harder flip for a 360. If you slow it down you can see your leg under your knee stays in the same position, there is only a little ankle kick in your flip. kick it like crazy and jump higher at the same time. I hope this helps!

I think there needs to be some kind of reflection on the mental aspect of this journey because you can focus on technique all day, but if you're not in the right head space for skating it's going to be tough to progress. Following are just some things that come to mind. Did you have anyone doing this challenge with you to create some healthy competition? Did you have any kind of ritual that would get you in the zone and forget about whatever is distracting you? Was anyone on the sesh actively hyping you up, were people on the sesh invested in your success? After you lost confidence, what did you do to shake it off and believe in yourself again--did you adjust your goals in a positive way? Did you get inspired by watching others succeed at tre flips or did it bring you down? I think that skateboarding is sometimes looked at as this lone wolf activity, but the majority of good skaters always have a crew of positive people pushing each other. Even the skaters who are casually good, many of them went to Woodward or some other skate camp/lesson and had that kind of structure to grow them. Sometimes the solo sesh is good to focus on rehabbing a trick, this video series proves that, but in my experience, having homies on the session makes forgetting about whatever negative stuff you got on your mind go away a lot easier. Anyways it was fun, you'll have tres dialed soon enough. 🍻

I feel like the ones you landed that were the cleanest you had your shoulders closed off more parallel to the board. The ones that you did land with your shoulders open you had to kick turn out of. That was my experience with tre flips, when I closed off my front shoulder they came a lot easier. I know that's the opposite of some other advice you've gotten but that's what worked for me.
@captaingenerica Жыл бұрын
i think there are kinda two ways of landing them from my experience, once where you jump towards toe-side with closed shoulders (like joe is doing here) and the ones where you jump up and forward with open shoulders.

When I was learning tre flips, I realize that I did better tres when I would skate off a bank. So I just drew a line on flat ground and pictured the line as the top of a bank launch. It helped me keep my brain and body focused on forward momentum. Now when I do tres I always think there is a line and just keep imaging I’m skating a bank. It might be a mental thing but it worked for me.

I think your Tre flip is underrotated most of the times. Try scoop harder (like really use all the toe muscle and give it a little pop so it can go higher), jump higher so you have more time to catch it, and close your shoulder a little for the landing. those 3 tips always helped me so much on my tre flip and i've landed it almost every try nowadays. Hope this helps. Keep killing it, bro

@wite0nwitef0rcez Жыл бұрын
The problem I see is that you turn heel side a lot while setting up, making you have to spin the board even more to make up for the amount that your turning. The ones that you don’t turn too much on are the ones you landed, I think that’s partially because of your foot position too. You don’t need to have your front foot so low on the board you’re making yourself off balance and causing yourself to turn away from the direction you need to board to spin. Put your front foot higher up and maybe even with more foot on the board and try to keep rolling straight and I really think you’ll have a much easier time doing them.

Move your back foot forward towards the concave of the board. You're getting pop but not enough scoop/powerslide motion. Remember tre-flips aren't done like a traditional flip trick.
@abc_xyz_is_me Жыл бұрын
Hi, from Europe. I'm learning 360 flip these weeks, I'm not there yet, but I'm improving. And I have an advice for you. I watched quite a number of videos on this trick. I can see one mistake you are constantly doing even in this video: While going down to you knees before the pop, you lean too much heelside, mostly stumping it too much with your front foot, resulting in your board bent heelside. YOU MUST LEAN TOESIDE (!) and that means pushing down mostly with your rear foot. The reason is that toe side lean helps to preload the board "against" the flick and that way the flip works with less effort. (The board springs against you front foot). Similar thing is valid for kickflip: a bit toe side and "backward" pop as if pushing the tail to the opposite side you are riding. Hey, I am much older than you, skatring after 20 years (done many years snowboard, surf).

At the start of this series, I could only really do one in like 20 tries, though I've been working on tre flips and only tre flips this entire month. I did 3 in a row twice already, though they take quite a lot of effort to spin around. I feel like once you can really boil down and understand what flips the board, to the point where you can do it effortlessly like it's second-nature, all you have to do is focus on spotting the griptape and putting two feet on, making them extremely easy like all the good tre-flippers say they are.

Dude you did well. When you don’t have a trick dialed it takes a lot more effort to make it happen, and you’re going to get tired faster. Most people cannot develop sponsored skater level technique in 10 days. Come at it fresh and do a half hour each day, building those leg muscles and refining the technique. It might take you some months or even a year before you have the trick on lock.

I might be wrong but it looks like your toes aren't hanging off enough. It wasn't until I really hung my toes off that I really started landing them consistently. Everyone has their own technique but I def think you could benefit from sticking your toes off more.

you should take a look at day 1-10 and count the ratio of makes to attempts. 5 in a row is a super lofty goal - if you have a 1 in 100 make rate on day 1, your chance of 5 in a row is 0.01^5 = 1/10,000,000,000 (1 in 10 billion) chance. if you improve your make rate to 10/100, that's 0.1^5 = 1/100,000 (1 in 100,000). even though in one session you're 10 times more likely to land one, you're still unlikely to see a 5 in a row make (even 3 in a row would be hard to see). find your make rate in a session and you'll realize how much you've improved, rather than fixating on 5 in a row. they look way closer than day 1, you hit 2 in a row 2 or 3 or more times, i'd say for a 10 day challenge you crushed it

Look dude: I know it's rhetorical that being a 'couch-commentator' is exponentially easier than doing it oneself - nevertheless... ADVICE WISE: in my tactfully humble opinion - 'Try not to overthink it so much and avoid focussing on granular semantics, .... - Rather just throw-down and scoop that tail! Again, just opt away from thinking about the technique of other Pro skaters etc... . Everyone will pop and flick differently because everyone has their own individual mechanics. Yes, indeed there is a core method/technique however just do what feels best and works for you.
