Thanks for this great video and PDF. I play mostly Worship music so used to playing the flat notes and up high. Great options for bass lines here.

Interesting! Are the frequent flat keys because you’ve got horn players? Great that you are used to playing high too!

@@GregsBassShed more vocalists and choir. We have a few songs on Easter that are heavy Ab and Bb so will be playing my newish 5 string that day and leading up to it.

great sounding bass, tough to get that Eb on the E string in pitch but that's what gives those basses its charm . well done

I agree, it's great to struggle a bit with high notes on the P-bass as the tone is worth it. That's my cheapest bass but maybe my favourite. It's my old converted Encore school-bass that I replaced the pickups and neck on. Works well with the flatwounds.

Nice groove! I point people from bass groups in this direction (GBS) because the breakdowns are easy to follow and always result in a killer bass line, that's often not that hard to play.

What made me seek out this baseline is I thought it was two bass players. But as you explained it he did sound on sound. Listening to the track on the album I clearly hear two. Greg, how was this line really played?
@GregsBassShed4 ай бұрын
@@calvinrichardson3562 it was played in two takes, so the line I show you in the lesson is the main take. Some lower notes were added later on. I explain a bit about this as I teach the main riff.

What strings and what bass is that ? It sounds lovely. Tough line, though.
@GregsBassShed4 ай бұрын
@@ludovicvanb9713 it’s a cheap ‘Encore’ bass I brought in the 80s. I put a new neck on it, Bare Knuckle pickups and flatwounds strings. It’s my favourite out of all my basses, including custom made basses!

Thanks Greg. The main pattern is not intuitive at all. Very challenging and full of ideas.
