The ice dancers in my area say "drop" instead of "lift" when you lift the leg. The re-bend happens simultaneously with the lift so your center of mass lowers and you drop down slightly as you do the chasse. It looks quite a bit better than just picking up one foot while gliding. It adds a bit of rhythm to the chasse when you "drop".

My coach says if you dont flex the foot, you are just doing a pump then a one foot glide. I suppose not breaking my nose or being kicked off the ice could also be adequate reasons. 😂 Different perspectives but both get the message across. Flex foot on "Char - says." Message recieved ✍️ now i need tips on how to make my teapot a little less like a teabag. Mine seem to be a bit droopy and end up very soggy on the bottom. 🤦

Thank you, Lloyd, for another great tutorial! This is exactly what I needed this week. I get a bit confused by bend-rebend terminology. Isn't it all just bending before stroking or shifting weight to the skating foot? Why use the word re-bend? Your movements make it clear what actions are needed to skate a beautiful Chassé, but I don't understand the difference between bend vs re-bend. P.S. I'm glad that you didn't edit out the cute nose scratch!

I think people just say rebend instead of bend because it's the second bend in the move/exercise. Or because the default position is meant to be on a bent ankle/knee and so it's a "re"bend because you're going back to that position. Either way it doesn't really matter, if you understand that you're meant to rebend on the skating leg before you push then I don't see why it matters if you say rebend or just bend

Hey Lloyd, you got a great style. In this video you comment on skaters accidentally leaving holes in the ice and management potentially asking them to leave the rink. Wow. I train in Germany, and here there is a wanna-be-alpha male unskilled skater whose skills are restricted to leaving very deep, very long hockey stop holes in the ice. We are talking on average 2 cm deep, 20 cm long holes, left intentionally. After placing them, preferably on freshly updated ice, he will go and check out how well he did. It is asocial behavior out of a text book, yet nobody here takes him off the ice. Do you think this would be possible in the UK?

How to do I find the beginner videos and what order to follow them in. I can “skate” basically (as in move forward and not fall) but nothing else. This seems a little further down the line but I don’t know how to find the right sequence of the videos

If you follow the LTS curriculum, you can search what videos are on ur skill level. For example this video is adult can skate level 3.
