I just received my Tread Overland 8” yesterday. Coming from the MacOS world, it’s quite different and the manual (PDF download) is not much help. It certainly assumes one knows their way around the interface. I figured out quite accidentally that I can rearrange the widgets on the home screen but I have yet to figure out how to group widgets like you have. Learning by playing around and experimenting is not my thing only because I have to do it three or four times before I get it. 😅 Is there some resource that a guy like me can use to shorten the learning curve, like some tutorials somewhere? Your video has been a help already, by the way.

@gto49us Thank you. I have several videos. The only way to learn is to play with it. You may want to download the manual as well. Feel free to ask me questions, also I recommend joining the Facebook groups.

Thank you for the reply. Yes the first screen can be edited. Simply put your finger on the widget and hold it, it will allow you to move it around. Move it to the X on the left hand corner to delete it. Then you can add what ever widget you would like

Thanks a lot! Great video - so good without the music 🤣. Am I right - you are using the 8" version? Do you miss the additional 2inches to the 10" one? Thanks and greetings from Europe
@mtnmnchronicles4 ай бұрын
@dieelefantltours8991 yes. It's a 8 inch. I like the size, it's not as intrusive as the 10. I think it's the perfect size for my Jeep

When going to a place like the Black Hills National park, do you have to load maps or are the trails already on a Tread? Is it recommended to load the Forest Service motor vehicle use map? Thanks for a great video
@mtnmnchronicles7 ай бұрын
Sorry for the delay. I was exploring the Big Horn mountains. The tread has maps and trails. Additionally, recommend doing some research and using the Tread. I use Trails Off Road, which has detailed outlines, and you can download the GPS routes.

I’m debating this or the garmin overlander gps. Which is better? I also saw a lot of reviews saying that the tread keeps crashing so you have any experience with this problem?

@@bulgogiboysadventures Sorry for the delay in response. Tread is 100% better. I have not had any crashing problems. It works like a charm. The learning curve for both is the main thing.

Did you ever installed the DMD app on the thread ?

@argentum_on_glass I did not. I did side load many apps on my Overlander, but not that one

Hey Paul, I am struggling with how to download Tracks from MyRouteApp into my new Garmin Tread. Can I please ask you for 1) How to get the GPX into the Tread and 2) How to actually start that?
@mtnmnchronicles6 ай бұрын
@@tuppence101 They should sync from the Tread app to the Tread.
@mtnmnchronicles6 ай бұрын
@tuppence101 If you are using a separate my rout app app. Can you down load a gpx? If so load that file into either the online app, or the Tread app

@@mtnmnchronicles To both you and Paul firstly, thank you so much both. Now, progress! I have the files on the Tread App in my iPhone, imported as GPX files, four of them. In the App I can select each. Now, how do I get them to Tread device and select a specific one to GO?
@tuppence1016 ай бұрын
Ok, I now see it will sync after a long time, and then invites me to start. Is there any way to upload all my 50 Tracks on the device and simply select each one to start on each day?
@mtnmnchronicles6 ай бұрын
@tuppence101 Depending on the rout or Track size they may take time to sync. I have not found a way to schedule a sync

Have you done a video on how the tracks and waypoints are synced between the Tread device and your smartphone? Can you make a ’Forced. Sync’?

Thx! One of the problems I’m encountering is once I’ve got the tracks and waypoints on the Tread app on my smartphone… how do I get them across to the Tread Overland device? It all seems very random… sometimes they appear on the Tread straightaway… other times I have to go through all sorts of procedures… thx!
@mtnmnchronicles7 ай бұрын
@streakychambers658 I had some issues initially. It turned out to be a corrupted GPX file. I had to look at the Sync Log on the Tread app to find it. Once I deleted the file it worked. It's not fast, it does take about 5 min to Sync depending on number of changes.
