And they say English is hard to learn. Siiiigh. 5 different past tenses!?! I'll get it done, thanks to help from sources like these, but maaaaaan. Not easy.

It certainly requires some effort, but it's completely worth it!

Who says English is hard? It’s literally the easiest language
@clairewilson30457 ай бұрын
English has just as many, my dude! You're just used to them in English, so you never even think about them. (I ate, I have eaten, I was eating, I had eaten, I had been eating!) Luckily, the Spanish equivalents are very similar to most of them in English, so you just need to tweak your brain a little and get into the habit of trying to use them when applicable. People whose languages don't have equivalent tenses (like Chinese) have a really hard time learning English for just that reason! You'll get there, just don't give up! 🎉

@@GutterFlower-t2uEnglish is incredibly difficult. I know people that have been speaking English their whole lives and still don’t know the difference between “much” and “many,” “is” and “are,” etc.

01:24 Just in a cool way: "in spanish is called pretérito o..." PD: Most spanish speakers use naturally all these tenses but do not know conscioustly the names or the diferences. It happens with natives speakers of any language.

The best lesson I had all year in Spanish. I so happy that my confusion about how to use past tenses was finally resolved today. You were right when you said in the beginning of this lesson, that I would understand how to use and recognize the 5 past tenses without tears. Thanks so much.😀

I'm a little confused because she says Imperfect past doesn't have an English equivalent but wouldn't it just be "Subject + used to + verb"? Because, for example, "I played basketball 5 years ago" is distinctly different from "I used to play basketball, but haven't for 5 years". The first case implies a specific time that basketball was played whereas the second sentence implies that the activity was ongoing. So isn't that pretty much exactly the same as it works in Spanish?

Spanish teacher here. Asking to other Spanish teachers: in which countries do they use the word preterite? Never heard it. I like the video explanations, though.

For $149.00 per month, how long does it take most students to get extremely comfortable with speaking this language? For work, travel...mostly work??? I won't say fluent because I know that takes a long time.
@Baselang Жыл бұрын
Hi! We focus on getting you from zero to conversationally fluent at first. While we believe our method to be the most efficient and cost effective available, BaseLang is a tool and results depend directly on the effort and time spent by the student. It also depends on the program the student chooses. Our Grammarless program is designed for committed students who can dedicate a few hours every day to learning Spanish and is guaranteed to be faster than the Real World program, which is a bit more flexible so people can easily fit it into their schedule

The way you said Preterite in Spanglish. 😂 (FYI, in actual Spanish it’s called Pretérito Indefinido).

I'm Mexican, and I still can't speak Spanish. Verb conjugation is worse than Chinese tones. You could get a black belt in BJJ before you could be fluent in Spanish.

The thing is she is just saying what they are but she is not teaching us how each one of them is formed and used for each pronoun. Like how does the simple past change the verb for Yo Tu El/Ella Nosotros , ..... Waste of time to watch this video!
