Another great lesson. Nashville move took a lot of faith being it was more than just yourself involved, it is definitely paying off. Michael Tuttle strat is one of the best Custom Shop made guitars you can get, he along with his son make all of the guitars and you get top quality, plus he is a very friendly person and a good individual to do business with. Keep up the hard work, you are knocking it out of the park.

A very practical yet invaluable lesson on how to be melodic in a solo. Great, indispensable lesson Brett. It seems so obvious when you explain it, the hard part is the execution at the right time during the actual solo.

Man, the greatest thing I’ve gotten from you in the 5 years I’ve been studying your courses and don’t get me wrong, all the principles and licks and all the great insight you’ve imparted has been priceless but the most valuable thing is yep, Target notes. Every lesson you really ram home that point and eventually it’s sunk in and it’s really helping me become the guitarist I want to be. At this point I’m still a very beginner intermediate guitarist but still a very confused lead guitarist, yet having that principle helps turn a lot of my indecisiveness as a lead guitarist into something that is much more cohesive, way more than its ever been and for that, I thank you, for everything. It’s a complex instrument in the formative years of ones development but that nugget of insight helps you to be able to at least play something that has a respectable level of merit, however simple or complicated the part may be. At the end of the day, it’s my belief that what defines a guitarist being average good or great is the musicality of what they play, not the complexity, so understanding the importance of target notes really moves you in a beautiful direction as a player!

Papa just love your lesson and how you don't over analyse the theory, and it makes is easy (easier) for dummies like me to comprehend. My problem is that I've over familiarized myself with so many teachers on the web, which btw, they are all so good but many are way over my head. I know this is how I make a living and I'm gonna try and purchase some of your materials and just advise people to pick one or two teachers they like, you and whomever, anyway thanks so much for your dedication, playing, and style 😁😁

About that chord around 17:00. If you take out the B bass note then it's simply an A add9 chord. A, C#, B, E. You could think of it that way with an added 9th note for the bass tone. Otherwise you could think of it as a B9 sus4. I prefer thinking of it as an A add9 chord because all the notes of the A major chord are present.

I just started realizing this a couple of months ago, with the help of apps that laid out the fretboard/scales/notes really well, and I started working on it. I combined it with some chord apps that fits in with what I see on the scales. Needless to say, but this tech wasn’t around 20 years before. But even then I probably would not have known what to look for. It feels like I knew the letters of the alphabet but had no idea how to construct words and sentences. But now I have found the dictionary! But yeah I’m also 20 years down this road. Thanks for confirming what I have been suspecting and showing how its done.👍

Thanks! I have a buddy that knows slash really well and he doesn't know theory at all just thinks about wether its a half or a whole step. He had some killer lessons on his phone of him playing this house! Pretty unreal. Incredible ear though and that really helps! Gilmour builds all of his solos. Play over the track tons of times and then picks out all the pieces he likes best and then arranges them in a way that makes sense. I plan on doing a bunch on Gilmour soon!
