Mastering the xTool F1 Ultra: Conveyor Setup and Batch Engraving Tips

Already have a P2 CO2 (my F1 Ultra has been pre-ordered) -- but what advantages does the F1 Ultra have when engraving wood? Know F1 Ultra is ideal for metal (where P2 is not) -- but a video talking about where you want to use your F1 Ultra vs your P2 would be great!

Have you been able to use the emboss feature on the ultra? On mine a STL file and a depth map don’t seem to be able to allow the drop down to “emboss”. Also text boxes don’t seem editable in xcs after I initially type something then leave it to do something

Hi, the function that automatically detects the various pieces works only with the Conveyor or can also be activated without it?

It can work with out it, You add your items, use the camera to refresh the image in XCS then position your design how you would like over 1 of the items. Then select your design and in the left side menu hit the application button then batch fill. Hope that helps!

The belt should also have marks to make it easier to place items

That was our first thought but I think they would then also have to implement some sort of calibration in XCS just in case you manually advance the belt. Having a mark on the frame would mean that belt position wouldn’t matter. I hope that makes sense it’s kinda hard to explain over text haha

Is it also possible to batch a different image of the same size (QR code) to each tag? I want to make assets tags so each QR code needs to be different. Thanks

As I know - only one file per batch. And if I’m not mistaken- it should be svg.

Very curious as to how accurate the placement is for engraving. Is it possible you can do the same on clear acrylic cards, so you can overlay them and see how close they are?

Unfortunately the blue diode lasers and the fiber aren’t ideal for clear cards. You would need a co2 laser for that

I understand what you are saying, and maybe under ideal circumstances it would. But that’s not what this system is designed for. It would probably end up marking the conveyor. But accuracy would not be great when the Ultra tries to detect a clear piece of acrylic

@@VelfCreations or cut acrylic and paper the same size and put the paper behind the acrylic if it’s having trouble seeing it. But whatevs. Was just curious. It’s possible to test but not gonna force your hand

How long of a board could you engrave? If you had supports on both sides -- any limits? Challenge to you is to make the longest engraving possible :)

There is a later, I think, video they did using the f1 ultra on white tile with a very NICE engrave.

The recognition of the cards seemed a little slow to me. Took apprx. 14 seconds each time and about 20 on the last batch.

Because a picture is being made, sent to the xTool servers to check the position assisted by AI and then the project will be send back to the F1 Ultra to continue. Hopefully this process would be able to run the AI locally on your pc.

How long would it take you to lay out each one on the 90⁰ jig and cut them one by one though?
