Thanks Fab and Dangerous. These few videos you've posted on the Dangerous Liaison regarding mastering have opened my eyes wide open and helped me understand my tracks just a bit better. Thanks for the always continuing influence.

Dude! Awesome! You are very good at explaining all the steps, man you even show how to patch cables and stuff. Very professional and clear. Tutorials like this are needed here on KZbin! When I give a "bad" constructive criticism people say I'm a hater, but they don't realize that I'm speaking up my mind respectfully pointing out the things I see wrong. But when I see good things (this case) I also say the truth! Keep up the awesome work that's very much appreciated. Just my humble opinion.

you definitely can. Everyone has their own workflow, and if that works for you, then rock it.

Trouble is a relative term. The whole idea of the Liaison is to reduce the amount of hassle it takes to complete basic tasks in Mastering. Instead of plugging in a compressor every time you want to use it, you hit one button. Instead of patching everything up when you recall a Master, you just hit one preset button. Instead of setting up an external bus for parallel processing, you hit one button and turn a knob. If you have a simpler way to a/b hardware units with one button please let me know.

to split mid and side you need an encoding/decoding device such as the Dangerous Master or the Dangerous S&M (discontinued). The process is deceptively simple, because it really just involves flipping phase and combining signals, but it is actually much more complicated than that, and took our designer a while to invent and perfect. Basically what I am getting at is that there is no proper way to do it without an encoder/decoder.

@ejvazquez6 If you go to the Mixing with Liaison video, he talks about that a little more.

when he adds a little bit of top end on the sides what exactly im i listening for? tbh i couldn't really tell a great difference when he added a little brightness on the sides but i could defiantly tell right way when he added the bottom end it warm it up

What's up I would to know what you are using for your mixing console in this video? I'm trying to decide which is better for me, the AVID PRO TOOLS S3 or what you're working on and if so, where can I find it ? Please let me know !

Can you make a video explaining the routing a little bit more for mixing in the dangerous liaison from the converter. If you have an aurora 16, then only 2 of those channels can go to the liaison is there a simple way of routing different channels to the liaison, and how would the track be printed back to log or protools thanks so much :D
@argiletonne7 жыл бұрын
I really like that you have art in your studio most studios are so gad damn boring

the simply and painful (pricetag:) truth is those 2 boxes together are the best combination of such a solution on market. nothing comes close in design, flexibility and transparency (the latter is crucial in mastering audio)

what kind of patchbay is that??

From 60 to 90 millions magnetic information per second at 1/4" tape. Now turn it stereo :) 32bit and DSD audio is great format. But I do think tape is better.

behind him, to the right of the 1176 I think I see a... Dangerous MIXER? Why can't I buy one!

Man! did you reply me like that, do you know who you talking to?

Even tape captures more information than any digital audio. Its a shame, but we cant.

your studio is awesome, but like most posts here, most people are working with crappy pc's and crappy plug in's in a cheap home studio (one rack unit you use costs more than my entire home studio)

remember those a/b speaker select boxes at radio shack ? this is the Rolls Royce of those ... ill take the JAG or BMW thank you very much... Nice but not to nice .. like my 12 gb of Ram & 4 screens

I wouldn't exactly say he's rich, but he does make his living off designing mastering equipment for the world's top engineers. Not sure what it is you're disagreeing with, but agree to disagree.

I use a patch bay / producer desk at the console and lose tons of time simply from recall alone... having a switchbox absolutely would make setups between all the possible hardware setups is an obvious time saver... so the answer to your question on why he is giving himself so much trouble is... to not give himself trouble. It's a terrible question poised with arrogance to boot. Bad attitude for the studio dude. I bet you he keeps happy or happier clients than you with a better attitude.
@gracenotecardiff11 жыл бұрын
Thats interesting. Wasnt that a perfectly respectable answer? No one needs to say "Do you know who I think I am"
@hrflikk9 жыл бұрын
Simple is better!
@philo3712 жыл бұрын
why are you giving yourself so much trouble when i can get the same or better sound on a simpler set up?
@andrewhiteeminem11 жыл бұрын
Are you sure you capturing signal in the same quality? Don't think so. Tape technology is superior to digital.

Nevertheless it's quite expensive for amateur studios, i only use software, and some enhanced Boss guitar pedals, i can see behind you at least one Avalon mastering rack, it's too expensive 10000€+ only stars can afford it !!!

@JesseNemitzPro11 жыл бұрын
No you can't. If you could the top mastering guys would. NO ONE likes the hassle dealing with analog gear... but it does make your work sound better faster. Thinking you can achieve "same quality" with analog gear you've never had the opportunity to use is snobbism.

Phillip I went to your Page and your mixes are not impressive at all. Thats just my opinion. Too Bright Thin and Harsh. We all have room to grow. Do be so critical of other people!
