That's awesome, you must be proud. Great group of young lads he's working with. I love this cast. This series is looking dope so far. I like it more than the Pacific already. Band of Brothers though, hard to top that but this will be a nice compliment to Hanks and Spielberg's former series.

My guess this is the Reykjavik approach, and boy! If they are showing their journey just to get to Britain, I'm excited to see what they have in store for 9 episodes! The Northern Atlantic journey just to get there is a story on it's own, glad it will be finally portrayed on the big screen!

@@callsign_scooter9602 Matt Guthmiller’s series on their DC-3 flight to the 75th anniversary of D-day is great overall, but this part with the leg to Greenland is in a league of its own. The radio exchange with an airliner over the North Atlantic gives me goosebumps too: “Douglas, what’s your type?” “DC-3” “Outstanding!”

It looks a bit too mountainous for Reykjavik. More likely it's one of the "Bluie" strips in southern Greenland (Narsarsuaq?). These are still regarded as the most dangerous strips in the world to fly into. See the episode of "Ice Pilots NWT" where they land there on a trans-Atlantic ferry flight with CL-215 water bombers.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. I feel like even though Memphis Belle was made over 30 years ago, that there's definitely scenes in that movie that looked better because they didn't rely on CG because they didn't necessarily really have much of it back then. Yes there were some scenes that maybe they could have improved if they had CG, like some of the stop motion stuff. But that would have been it. I think it was so well done using real craft, I'm sure they could have multiplied the planes in the sky from scenes the shot with real planes or models and then multiplied it with CGI. But this looks kind of like call of duty or some other video game. I'm sure I'll probably look at it or watch it but I'm planning to be a little disappointed like when I saw 15 minutes into "Midway"

My great uncle Jack flew B-24s over Germany during the war, and had to ferry his brand new Liberator over the Atlantic to sub-Saharan Africa and then over the Mediterranean and Spain to England. His story is touched upon a bit in the FABULOUS book “Elusive Horizons” by Keith C. Schuyler. He and his crew had locals paint nose art on his new plane only to get put in a ruddy old one as soon as they got to England. They ended up flying ~12 missions before being shot down in Holland and taken POW in spring 1944. I’m very excited to see the ferrying process depicted in this show! Thank you sincerely to all the incredibly brave and fearless men gave their all to save the world. And thank you Uncle Jack! I know he would be ecstatic to see a show like this!

I hate to break it to you, but there's literally no way to do a bomber offensive series without a LOT of CGI. There aren't enough B-17's to make raids look right without CGI, and they can't put B-17's into serious/dangerous flying situations either with as few of them that exist, let alone the safety of the actors. Its a lot easier to avoid CGI when your action is on the ground. If this was made in the 70s when they had more airframes maybe the could do a better job, but even practical effects shows back then had goofey looking models, heck the special effects on Memphis Belle in the 90s which was mostly real planes were terrible, just no way around it to some extent.@@MA-iv7ol

My first impression based on the trailer and this preview clip : bad CGI and cheezy action music. I wish they had taken a more sober approach, like in Band of Brothers : no unnecessary music when they dropped over normandy, no unnecessary music when they were getting shelled at Bastogne. And whatever music was there was spare, minimalist and tasteful and only served to elevate some of the quieter dramatic moments. I don't understand why Hollywood, or the average casual viewer don't understand that less music, most of the time, is better at creating tension in what are supposed to be nerve-racking scenes. WIll still give it a try for sure, but my expectations are way low.

If they just kept the camera in the cockpit (maybe a few shots of the landing gear, engines here and there) rather than cut away to the wide exterior shots of the B17, I believe the scene would be much more intense. They are trying too hard, imho.

As much as I cant wait for this being an aviation fanatic and huge fan of BoB, I am afraid I will be a bit dissapointed when my inevitable sqrutinizing of the flying scenes starts. Go join the Holocaust denier board. They are missing another troll like you as you sound like one of them. This series is based on the book with whom some of the REAL pilots who were in the 100th helped provide the source material!! That's not propaganda. Propaganda is the Taliban or Iranian regime when they open their mouths if you need a refresher. Now go crawl back into your parents' basement and find the next thread to hijack. You definitely have zero credibility here already. If you want to learn about REAL courage, check out the story of the Mighty Eighth as there is plenty of source material with historians to research about what they accomplished over the skies of Europe! Even the little details, such as he is steering the yoke like it's a car after touchdown. Those are aileron movements, you either throw it over one direction or the other after touchdown and keep it there, due to strong cross winds, but you don't keep turn it back and fourth after you touch down; you steer with your feet after touchdown. I don't think we are going to get another Band of Brothers. But that's okay. We can't expect brilliance like that of BofB to strike twice.

Too much focus on Austin Butler. This should be about the entire crew, the missions, etc, etc... I hope it lives up to expectations. The Pacific was good but Band of Brothers is the best to date 20 years later...

While I am excited to watch this, the CGI looks absolutely terrible. Obviously you can only go so far with visual effects on a budget, but I would've thought Apple TV could've done better than this. With that being said, I don't want to critique it too much, because I just appreciate that shows like this are still being made today.

Disappointed in the cgi. The sheen is wrong for dead flat paint used during the war. Other clips show the aircraft animations as being too fast and quick. Not sure why they keep getting this wrong when B-17’s and other aircraft are still airworthy to study how they move. I should be thankful I suppose. Bring back more practical effects.

Looks Ok, but man....does it seriously have to be video game level CGI? I mean come on...this stuff I would expect to see from 2004, not 2024. Either use the real thing or make it so I can't tell the difference. I like they mostly did with Top gun maverik.

Everything of this looks like a complete deviaton from BoB and The Pacific, very disappointing. This seems like a sister production to Greyhound, same style of visuals and suspense music. CGI is mediocre, and the way it is filmed is like a B action movie. Hopefully we are proved wrong, but it doesnt look very good at this point.
